Following reports that the two of them may be dating while pursuing a case against former President Donald Trump, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan announced a new investigation into a special prosecutor that Fani Willis appointed.
The Washington Examiner reported that Jordan sent a letter to Nathan Wade, the prosecutor, after reports citing a court document accusing him of being in a romantic relationship with Willis while being paid more than $650,000 in taxpayer funds to work on the case.
In addition, other reports claimed that Wade has met with Biden White House officials based on billing documents he submitted to Willis’ office.
“Based on recent reports, we believe that you possess documents and information about the coordination of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office (FCDAO) with other politically motivated investigations and prosecutions and the potential misuse of federal funds,” Jordan said in his letter to Wade.
The chairman said he has “serious concerns about the degree of improper coordination among politicized actors, including the Biden White House, to investigate and prosecute President Biden’s chief political opponent.”
The Examiner noted further:
Wade, who has been paid nearly $654,000 in legal fees by Willis’s office since January 2022, billed eight hours of work at a $250 hourly rate on May 23, 2022, for an event listed in an invoice as “Travel to Athens; Conf with White House Counsel,” according to copies of bills attached to the complaint filed earlier this week by Trump co-defendant Mike Roman.
The special prosecutor also charged Fulton County an additional $2,000 for an interview with “DC/ White House” on Nov. 18, 2022, according to the documents included in the complaint.
Furthermore, Politico disclosed this week, for the first time, that attorneys from Willis’s office held meetings with the former House Jan. 6 committee staff in mid-April 2022, just a few months after she convened a special grand jury to consider an indictment against Trump, a matter that was eventually presented to Willis in August 2023.
Jordan’s committee initiated an investigation into Willis in August to determine whether she collaborated with the Biden administration’s Justice Department while considering charges against Trump, the Examiner noted. Additionally, the committee launched a separate investigation into potential collusion with the Jan. 6 committee in December.
“Jordan’s investigation into Willis comes as a hearing was held Friday at the Fulton County Superior Court before Judge Scott McAfee, marking the first time Nathan Wade has been seen since the damaging allegations against him and Willis surfaced this week,” the outlet noted.
According to a Monday Newsweek report, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) said over the weekend that allegations of professional improprieties involving Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis are “deeply troubling” after he denounced previous efforts by Republican legislators to go after her after charging Trump.
“But in a boost for Trump, Kemp has now joined several Republicans who have spoken out against Willis after one of the defendants in the case accused her of engaging in an ‘improper’ relationship with Nathan Wade, a prosecutor she hired for the case,” Newsweek reported further, adding that Willis’ office has said she plans to address the allegations in a future court filing.
On Friday, McAfee said he is currently waiting for a response from Willis’ office before setting a hearing date to consider the issue.
“These allegations are deeply troubling and evidence should be presented quickly for Judge McAfee to rule and the public to have confidence in this trial moving forward,” Kemp said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The new information regarding the White House Counsel meeting with Wade also follows previous reports by Just the News that the Biden White House worked to facilitate “special access” for the FBI to 15 boxes of Trump presidential documents that he had returned to the National Archives.
The new court filing, which is part of a Georgia case against Michael Roman, a Trump codefendant, shows that the special prosecutor met on at least one occasion with Biden’s White House Counsel. Wade indicated that this meeting was part of his travel to Athens, Ga., on May 23, 2022, according to an invoice that he submitted to the DA’s office.
