Joy Behar, the cohost of the ABC Daytime talk show “The View” has vowed to wear a mask “indefinitely” because of COVID-19 but she has broken that vow.
“Personally, I listen to the little voice in my head that doesn’t really follow a hundred percent what they tell me because they keep changing it,” she said on her show, citing the CDC changing its guidance on masking.
“So like, a very short time ago they were saying put the N95 masks on, make sure it’s on, and now they’re saying you don’t have to wear them anymore. So if I go on the subway, if I go in a bus, if I go into the theater, if I go into, where else would I go? A crowded place, I would wear a mask, and I might do that indefinitely,” the host said.
“Because why do I need the flu or a cold even?” she said. “And so I’m listening to myself right now. I mean, I don’t think it’s a hundred percent safe yet.”
Dr. Laura Wright pointed to death statistics to say that parents need to make their own assessments about their kids wearing masks.
“We need to weigh risks. Tradeoffs is a basic thing that we teach,” she said. “We need to be able to be adults about this. Why should you have to make decisions like this? Why has the messaging been so inconsistent?”
But The Post Millennial‘s editor-in-chief Libby Emmons caught the host at a New York City restaurant sans mask and shared the photo to Twitter.
“Joy Behar said she was going to mask in public places ‘indefinitely’ because it’s just not safe. Except for last night out at this restaurant, apparently,” she said on Friday. “I hear that she also walked out of the restaurant unmasked, though her companions dutifully donned theirs.”
Her show, “The View” has found itself at the center of a ton of controversy recently, particularly with cohost Whoopi Goldberg.
Whoopi Goldberg is reportedly “livid” that she was suspended from ABC’s “The View” for two weeks over her highly controversial remarks about the Holocaust.
ABC News President Kim Godwin said that Goldberg would be suspended for “her wrong and hurtful comments” about the Holocaust, where she claimed the Holocaust was “not about race.”
“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” Godwin said. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities.”
Goldberg is upset about her suspension and feels “humiliated.”
“She feels ABC executives mishandled this. She followed their playbook. She went on ‘The Late Show With Steven Colbert’ and then apologized again on ‘The View’ the next day,” a source reportedly told the Post. “Her ego has been hurt and she’s telling people she’s going to quit. Suspension from ‘The View’ is like getting suspended from Bravo. The bar is very low.”
