House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has declared that if Republicans win control of the House in 2022, he is planning to kick at least three Democrats off of certain committees.
During an interview with Breitbart, the California Republican said that such a move would be in response to Democrats voting to remove two Republicans — Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) — off their committees.
McCarthy named Democrat Reps. Adam Schiff, Ilhan Omar, and Eric Swalwell.
“The Democrats have created a new thing where they’re picking and choosing who can be on committees,” McCarthy said. “Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on the committee. But this new standard which these Democrats have voted for—if Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the private sector, there is no reason why he should be given one to be on Intel or Homeland Security. He will not be serving there.”
“Ilhan Omar should not be serving on Foreign Affairs,” McCarthy said. “This is a new level of what the Democrats have done.”
McCarthy also said Schiff, who is the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, would be removed from the committee.
“You look at Adam Schiff — he should not be serving on Intel when he has openly, knowingly now used a fake dossier, lied to the American public in the process and doesn’t have any ill will [and] says he wants to continue to do it,” McCarthy said.
“We’re going to reshape—think about what happened in Afghanistan. Why did Afghanistan collapse so fast? Was the Intel Committee under Adam Schiff focused on impeachment and not on the safety of America? Why are people coming across the border that are on a terrorist watch list? What are they doing about it? Their own members on that committee say it’s not happening when it’s true. We need to have an Intel Committee that looks at what’s happening around the world and keeps America safe. It should do exactly what it was created [to do]—overseeing our agencies and others. We’re going to hold people to a higher standard in the process if they want to be on the Intel Committee and the training to be a part of it. Take the politics out of it,” he added.
Last month, McCarthy encouraged voters that if they want House Speaker Nancy Pelosi out of power, it can happen in November.
In an interview with Fox News, McCarthy spoke about the state of the country under Joe Biden and what Republicans would be doing differently.
He said the best thing voters can do is “fire” Pelosi and give Republicans back control of the U.S. House in the 2022 midterm elections.
“We would be energy independent. It would be China and Russia winning, it would be America that was winning. Our borders would be secure. We wouldn’t have rising inflation. This is the problem. One-party rule in one year. But the good news is, in less than one year we can fix this country if we fire Nancy Pelosi that is why need everybody to go to firepelosi.com. Join the fight. It’s not just Republicans, Democrats, independents. If you care about this country, if you want to change the course of history, we can do it and we can make it happen,” he added.

Republicans are now “the early favorites,” to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2022 midterm elections.
Last month, a top House Democrat warned that the Republican Party is in a prime position to take back House in next year’s midterm elections.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Sean Patrick, who serves as a congressman from New York, says Democrats would lose their House majority if the midterms were held today.
Tim Persico, executive director of the Maloney-led DCCC, shared data with incumbents showing that several House Democrats are at risk of losing their seats to Republican challengers.
Republicans need a net gain of 5 seats to regain the House majority in the midterms next November.
And the once-in-a-decade redistricting process – pegged to the 2020 census – is expected to generally favor Republicans over Democrats.
