A leading Republican on Sunday issued a warning to President Joe Biden after his committee says it has discovered more evidence of ties between the first family and China, on the heels of news that former President Donald Trump may be indicted this week by a Manhattan grand jury.

During an interview with Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, provided an update on the panel’s inquiry into the Biden family’s business dealings.

He disclosed that the House is scrutinizing the bank records of the family’s business associates and cautioned that evidence from Hunter Biden’s laptop could spell trouble for the White House, as it has revealed a connection between the Biden family and China.

“Well, we know that when the president was vice president in the Obama administration, he made several trips to China. He brought his son and some of these associates with him,” Comer told Bartiromo.

“They met in different places with some of these people that the president claimed he never met with. So we know the president hasn’t been truthful about his involvement when he was vice president. But from talking to former associates that were involved with Hunter Biden, what we know the Biden family had agreed to help China do was get their foot in the door,” he continued.

“There was something on the laptop that was also informative where Hunter Biden is talking to a colleague, somebody who was representing the China partnership, right?” Bartiromo countered.

“Yes there was a message that Hunter was very frustrated with one of these business partners in China, that he had done every blanking thing they had ever asked of him,” Comer said. “And, of course, this would have been when Joe Biden was vice president, and he reminded them that they had never done anything in return for him, and then a few weeks later, this $3 million wire appears in the Robinson Walker account, and the very next day they distributed money to Hunter Biden and then at least two other family members and possibly three family members. So there’s evidence in the laptop that shows that Hunter Biden was communicating with them and had interactions and done things for them while his father was vice president.”

The Kentucky Republican continued: “This is very concerning. Again, the White House hasn’t been truthful about this from day one. I don’t think the White House ever dreamed we would get bank records.

“I’ve got bad news for the White House: This is just the beginning. We’re going to get a lot more bank records and they’re going to have to continue to backpedal and come up with some type of reason why the Biden family’s received millions and millions of dollars from our adversaries,” he added.

Comer’s statements come on the heels of reports that Trump is about to be indicted by a Manhattan grand jury in regards to an investigation into so-called “hush money” payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election that Trump won.

News broke on Friday that District Attorney Alvin Bragg is close to indicting Trump over the payments, allegedly to keep her quiet about an affair the two of them had in 2006.

Michael Cohen, a former attorney for Trump who testified before the grand jury in the investigation last week, admitted guilt in 2018 to various offenses, including violating campaign finance laws by paying $130,000 to Daniels. Cohen, who was incarcerated for over a year, claims that he made the payment at Trump’s behest, The Hill noted.

Daniels, meanwhile, met with Manhattan prosecutors who are leading the probe on Wednesday, the outlet continued. Trump acknowledged reimbursing Cohen for the payment but insisted that it was not associated with his campaign funds.

“The grand jury in the case is set to hear from a surprise witness on Monday before Bragg decides whether or not he will indict,” Insider reported on Sunday.
