Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has been discussing her next career move following the November midterm elections, and it could see her back in front of a camera daily.
Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is considering a possible future in television after Fox News host Sean Hannity suggested she host her own program.
Leavitt, 29, appeared on “Hannity” Thursday night when the longtime Fox host suggested a potential title for a future show.
“Well, congratulations on your two beautiful children,” host Sean Hannity began.
“I saw pictures of them recently, and I know you’re happy. I know it was a hard decision. We’ll talk about it on the podcast next week,” Hannity continued before suggesting a new show on Fox for Leavitt.
“How does it sound: ‘The Briefing with Karoline Leavitt?’ How do you like the sound of that?”
Leavitt responded, “Well, Sean, we have had our segment before, you and me. I will continue to join your show anytime you want, that’s for sure. But thank you. My babies are cute, I will say so myself.”
Fox News has not announced a hosting deal or new program involving Leavitt.
The exchange came less than a month after Leavitt stepped down as President Donald Trump’s White House press secretary.
Trump announced in August that Leavitt would leave the administration at the end of that month while continuing to serve as an outside adviser. Leavitt said she made the decision after concluding that the demands of the press secretary position made it difficult to devote the time she wanted to her two young children.
Leavitt gave birth to her second child, daughter Viviana, in May and later returned to work at the White House before announcing her departure.
“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy and attention required of the White House press secretary,” Leavitt said when announcing her decision.
She completed her final day as press secretary on Aug. 27.
Leavitt became the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history when she took the job at age 27 following Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election. She had previously served as Trump’s national press secretary during his campaign and worked in his first administration.
Before joining the 2024 campaign, Leavitt worked for Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., mounted an unsuccessful congressional campaign in New Hampshire and served as a spokeswoman for the Trump-aligned MAGA Inc. super PAC.
She has remained a frequent presence on Fox News since leaving the White House and continues to advocate publicly for Trump and Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections.
A move from the White House briefing room to cable television would not be unprecedented.
Dana Perino, who served as press secretary under President George W. Bush, joined Fox News after leaving government and later became a co-host of “The Five” and co-anchor of “America’s Newsroom.”
Kayleigh McEnany, who served as Trump’s final press secretary during his first term, joined Fox News in 2021 and went on to co-host “Outnumbered.”
Hannity’s suggested title also appeared to echo “The Briefing with Jen Psaki,” the television program hosted by former Biden White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
For now, however, there is no announced Fox News show for Leavitt.
Her response Thursday amounted to an acknowledgment of Hannity’s suggestion rather than confirmation of a new job, although she made clear that viewers can expect her to continue appearing on his program.
