A previous episode of the Steve Bannon “Warroom” podcast has Democrats on social media pulling their hair out of their heads after it was reported on by a left-leaning news website.
Dan Schultz, the author of “Taking Back Your Government: The Neighborhood Precinct Committeeman Strategy,” appeared on Bannon’s show and laid out a strategy for having Republicans take back the government long term and on Thursday a story on the segment was published by Pro Publica.
But what did Schultz say that was so dangerous to them? He talked about Republicans getting involved at the local, grassroots level to effect change.
“You’ll also elect the delegates to the four-year state presidential nominating convention. The delegates there that you’ve elected — and you can run for delegate — only the precinct committeemen elect the delegates,” the author said. “The delegates elect the national convention delegates directly, and then they also elect the national committeeman and the national committeewoman to a four-year term on the RNC. That’s real political power. We can take over the party if we invade it.”
“And I’ve told people this since 2009. I told the tea partyers this,” he said. “If you will not at least try this, and get involved, and take over the party, I can’t guarantee you that we’ll save the republic, but I can guarantee you this: We’ll lose it. If we conservatives don’t take over the Republican Party, we’re going to lose our republic.”
Bannon also found what Schultz was saying to be wise advice for a Republican Party that wants to take back and keep power.
“This is the ability to take over the Republican Party because this is where the votes are. It’s a pyramid, and this is the base of the pyramid,” the host said.
And this was enough to frighten both Pro Publica and other Democrats.
One of the loudest voices urging Donald Trump’s supporters to push for overturning the presidential election results was Steve Bannon. “We’re on the point of attack,” Bannon, a former Trump adviser and far-right nationalist, pledged on his popular podcast on Jan. 5. “All hell will break loose tomorrow.” The next morning, as thousands massed on the National Mall for a rally that turned into an attack on the Capitol, Bannon fired up his listeners: “It’s them against us. Who can impose their will on the other side?”
When the insurrection failed, Bannon continued his campaign for his former boss by other means. On his “War Room” podcast, which has tens of millions of downloads, Bannon said President Trump lost because the Republican Party sold him out. “This is your call to action,” Bannon said in February, a few weeks after Trump had pardoned him of federal fraud charges.
The solution, Bannon announced, was to seize control of the GOP from the bottom up. Listeners should flood into the lowest rung of the party structure: the precincts. “It’s going to be a fight, but this is a fight that must be won, we don’t have an option,” Bannon said on his show in May. “We’re going to take this back village by village … precinct by precinct.”
“BREAKING: We found 1000s of Trump supporters taking over local GOP positions — an unprecedented grassroots groundswell devoted to Trump’s insistence that the 2020 election was stolen & Republicans need to stop that from happening again,” Pro Publica reporter Isaac Arnsdorf said.

“Heeding Steve Bannon’s call, election deniers organize to seize control of the GOP—and reshape America’s elections,” fellow left-leaning publication Mother Jones said.

“This is the FRIGHTENING. Bannon is pushing his cult to take over local positions to reshape America’s elections and make GOP even more radical and dangerous. This is the direct result of criminal Bannon working as a foreign agent with zero accountability,” another Twitter user said.

“Say what you will about the ultra-right; they’re organized and have a long-term plan. We need to fight back by running for local office ourselves,” another said.
