Lindsey Graham Says Amy Coney Barrett Nomination Is Full Steam Ahead

From complaining about precedent to whining about Judge Merrick Garland not getting a confirmation hearing to a last ditch effort to use the coronavirus as an excuse, Democrats have done everything they believe is in their power to stop the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to The Supreme Court.

But South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, just put an end to the speculation about her confirmation, CNN reported.

“So, we’ll start on October 12, and more than half of the Supreme Court justices who have had hearings were done within 16 days or less,” he said on Fox News. “We’ll have a day of introduction. We’ll have two days of questioning, Tuesday and Wednesday, and on the 15th we’ll begin to markup, we’ll hold it over for a week, and we’ll report her nomination out of the committee on October 22.”

“Then it will be up to (Senate Majority Leader Mitch) McConnell as to what to do with the nomination once it comes out of committee,” he said.

The likely scenario after that is that Sen. McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader, will get a quick vote and confirm the new justice.

Senator Graham was one of the biggest defenders of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of being a sexual assaulter during his confirmation hearings.

They went as far as insinuating that Kavanaugh was part of a gang of men who drugged and raped girls at parties.

“Boy, y’all want power. God, I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham. That you knew about it and you held it,” he said during the Kavanaugh hearings. “You had no intention of protecting Dr. Ford. None. She is as much a victim as you are. God, I hate to say it, because these have been my friends, but let me tell you when it comes to this–you looking for a fair process?- You came to the wrong town, at the wrong time, my friend.”

During his South Carolina Senate debate, Sen. Graham was asked how he could support a confirmation of Judge Barrett when he helped to stonewall the nomination of Judge Garland.

“I am going to lead the charge to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Court.” He said. “And I can tell you this, if Chuck Schumer and the Democrats were in charge, they would be doing the same thing.”

He is correct. There is no doubt that if the Democrats had the presidency and the Senate, and God forbid that happens, they would confirm whoever they wanted to.

There is virtually no chance that you would hear Sen. Schumer speaking to the press and saying “Well, you know, we should wait for the election so that it is fair to Republicans.”

Can anyone imagine him saying that? Can anyone imagine the Democrats not doing anything possible to gain more power to promote their radical agenda and get a foothold in the court to do it?

Judge Coney Barrett is likely to be Justice Coney Barrett before the presidential election and there is not a ton Democrats can do about it.
