One of the longest members of ABC’s “The View” may soon be leaving the show, according to her own words. According to Variety, Joy Behar has been considering leaving the program when her contract ends sometime this summer.
In April 2020, Variety reported Behar said she wrote about retiring in the summer of 2022 in an interview for the book, “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View.”
“I have a three-year contract,” Behar said in the book, which first came out in 2019. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t leave if I want to, because they can’t really do anything to me at this point. I don’t see myself staying for more [time]. That’s it! I could be wrong. If I’m as fabulous in as I am now, I’ll think about it. But the chances of that happening…You know, time marches on. I’m not a kid.”
It’s unclear if Behar will retire as she said in 2019 or stick it out even longer.
Behar has come under fire numerous times for her outrageous statements about people she does not like, particularly Republicans, former President Donald Trump, and anyone who has ever supported him.
Behar attacked former Trump administration officials who have been on the show, calling them “recovering addicts” who she says enabled Trump.
Prior to that, she got into an argument with former President Barack Obama’s campaign manager and told him to “keep his mouth shut.”
In March, Behar made headlines when she literally fell on her face in front of a live audience.
Behar face-planted and needed help from her co-hosts to get up off the floor as she was walking to the table for the show.
The cameras were not on her at the moment she fell, but the audience could be heard gasping as the image cut to co-hosts Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin tending to Behar.
The women also were joined by moderator Whoopi Goldberg and a stagehand in helping Behar up.
“Just stand,” Goldberg could be heard saying.
Behar continued with the show, saying she was not badly hurt and joked it was “25 years [and] that has never happened,” before asking in mock anger “who do I sue!?”
“The main thing — just to talk seriously — when Bob Saget fell, he died,” Behar said. “If you hit your head, and you feel dizzy or you have blurred vision, or you feel like you want to go to sleep, go to the doctor. Because that will kill you.”

Back in February, she made herself look like the elitist, selfish person many believe she is after she whined that the Russian invasion of Ukraine could interfere with her trip to Italy.
“Well, I’m scared of what’s going to happen in Western Europe too,” she said as if she was concerned for the well-being of the possibility of 50,000 dead human beings. “You know, you plan a trip. You want to go there. I want to go to Italy for four years and I haven’t been able to make it because of the pandemic.”
Behar was also caught dining out in New York City restaurant without a mask after spending so much time lecturing people that they needed to wear them in public.
