McEnany Says Biden Staff Has No ‘Faith’ He Can Answer Press Questions

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Friday what many other observers have no doubt thought but have been afraid to publicly admit: President Joe Biden does not have the mental acuity to answer questions from the media, and what’s more, his staffers know it.

In a Friday interview with Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney, McEnany called the sheltering of Biden by the White House “extraordinary” but “not unprecedented.”

“You’ll recall… the ‘basement strategy’ is what he employed on the campaign trail,” she said, a reference to Biden’s frequent press interviews from the basement of his home in Delaware.

“He went something like 50 days and he only took questions twice. And when he did, they were hand-picked questions,” McEnany, who recently joined the Fox News network as a contributor, said.

Donald Trump held his first press conference on Feb. 16, 2017, while Barack Obama first addressed the national media from the White House on Feb. 9, 2009, Fox Business Network reported. Bill Clinton, meanwhile, gave his first press conference nine days after taking office in January 1993.

“They’re protecting him,” Varney responded. “It seems to me they are protecting the president from himself. They don’t want to see him stumble over words, get confused, lose his train of thought as he may well do if he was subject to the rough-and-tumble of a real press conference. They’re protecting him, I think.”

McEnany recalled the few instances where Biden interacted with reporters, including one with Fox News’ Peter Doocy, which he seemed to “relish.”

“So I don’t think this is President Biden saying, ‘I don’t want to do this,’” said McEnany. “I think it’s those around him recognizing when he does speak, it doesn’t always turn out so well, like calling Republicans ‘Neanderthals,’ as he did recently in the Oval Office.”

She also said she believes his staff is trying to protect Biden by delaying his first presser.

“The pressure is mounting when you have even left-wing outlets calling him out for this,” she said.

While few politicos — especially Democrats — want to admit it, Biden has visibly stumbled many times throughout his campaign last year and since entering the White House.

More recently, Newsmax TV’s Grant Stinchfield said outright that Biden’s mental acuity is deserting him.

“We had a doctor on the program from Mount Sinai Medical Hospital who made the diagnosis watching 30 hours of video that Joe Biden has early to mid-stage dementia,” he said last month.

But Stinchfield didn’t stop there.

“Now that he’s president I believe Joe Biden’s mental state is a clear national security threat. Now other parts of the world are apparently noticing too,” he added.

A week earlier, a video clip of Sky News host Cory Bernardi’s making observations about Biden’s alleged mental state went viral.

“It’s clear to me at the least that U.S. President Joe Biden is struggling with dementia and is clearly not up to the task he’s been sworn in to do,” he said.

“The was apparent to many during the election campaign, but such was the hate for Donald Trump by the partisan and poisonous mainstream media, they chose not to highlight anything which may have derailed a Biden victory,” Bernardi said.
