MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has been pushing unfounded and salacious conspiracy theories for years.
She has levied a barrage of unproven allegations at President Donald Trump and Republicans for quite some time, including claiming to her viewers that there’s evidence of collusion with Russia and pro-Kremlin entities.
But Maddow was dealt a devastating blow this week after her ratings plummeted to an all-time low.
In August, the “Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC fell back to fifth place in the cable news ratings wars.
Fox News — with Hannity, Tucker Carlson Tonight, the Ingraham Angle, and The Five — took the top four spots in terms of most viewers.
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow saw her ratings take a nose dive in the month of August, while Fox News retained each of the top four spots in cable news ratings.
“The Rachel Maddow Show” placed fifth in cable news ratings this month behind “Hannity,” “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” “The Ingraham Angle,” and “The Five,” making it the second straight month that Fox News had the four highest rated cable news programs.
Maddow’s show averaged 2,327,000 total viewers in the month of August, with 361,00 coming in the crucial 25-54 age demographics, according to Nielsen Media Research. Those numbers are down from July when Maddow averaged 2,487,000 per night, and 384,000 in the 25-54 demographic. (RELATED: CNN Presidential Town Hall Bombs In TV Ratings)
It was the second straight month that Maddow failed to finish in the top three, something she had previously accomplished every month dating back to October 2018.
Hannity led cable news, averaging 3,269,000 viewers a night, with 519,000 in the 25-54 demographic, while Carlson placed second, averaging 3,107,000 total viewers, including 500,000 in the 25-54 demographic.
Maddow’s ratings decline is more than likely related to the collapse of Robert Mueller’s rigged Russia witch hunt.
Maddow went all-in on the insane Russia Collusion hoax, and when that imploded, her program has been losing viewers at a breakneck pace.
She was so invested in the Mueller report bringing down President Trump that she literally cried on national television when it actually vindicated the president.
Our job tonight—as a country sort of or at least—what everybody in the country is going to be doing tonight is trying to figure out what it means that the report of special counsel Robert Mueller has finally been submitted. We’ve heard it said so many times that it was imminent, that it was done and maybe done and we didn’t know about it. Finally, it’s happened. In terms of what that means and what Mueller found, we know only the smallest little bits. This is the start of something apparently, not the end of something.
She was fighting back tears the entire time during the segment while being forced to admit that there’s no evidence that Trump colluded or obstructed justice.
