Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is wasting no time in calling for political retribution against key Democrats ahead of the GOP’s takeover of the House for the first time since 2018. In particular, the Georgia Republican set her sights on House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) in recent days.
Greene took to Twitter last week to press for his removal from his committees, accusing him of “lying to the American people and supporting BLM violent riots all over America…along w/ many of your colleagues.”
“I’m looking forward to watching @GOPLeader remove you from committees,” she added in a post containing a video clip of Schiff, who criticized likely incoming House Speaker and fellow Californian Kevin McCarthy’s vow to remove him as a “false equivalency.”
Schiff defended himself in an interview with California newsmagazine “The Issue Is,” arguing that he had not done anything to deserve being removed from his committees.

Schiff: it’s a “false equivalence”

“I mean, the Republicans would say that Democrats kicked Marjorie Taylor Greene off of her committees, so why shouldn’t they be able to kick you off of your committees?” asked host Elex Michaelson.
“Well, this is the same false equivalence they often use, which is Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar were removed from their committees because they were inciting violence against fellow members of Congress,” Schiff falsely claimed.
“The day I start to incite violence against people that I serve with or elsewhere, then fine, take me off my committee. You know, the moment I start engaging in insurrection, then fine, sanction me, but don’t give me this false equivalence, Mr. McCarthy, and suggest that somehow leading legitimate investigations of Donald Trump’s corruption with Russia, Ukraine, and January 6th is somehow legitimate basis to remove someone from a committee,” he added.
Trump, who was subjected to an unprecedented number of congressional and special counsel investigations during his term in office, was not found to have any criminal or corrupt connections to Russia or Ukraine in any of them. Also, Trump was acquitted of “insurrection” by the Senate during his second impeachment trial.
For her part, MTG had words for a political ally, Rep. Lauren Boebert, last month after the latter appeared to take a pot shot at Greene over previous remarks that had been taken out of context.
Political allies Marjorie Taylor Green and Lauren Boebert may be on the verge of a major falling out after the Colorado Republican took aim at the Georgia lawmaker during an event over the weekend. Greene slammed Boebert over a remark she made during America Fest 2022, which was sponsored by Turning Point USA.
Specifically, Boebert made reference to Greene’s prior remarks about her “Jewish space lasers” comment when she was answering a question about not supporting House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for Speaker. Greene has offered her support for McCarthy in exchange for pledges regarding future investigations, Red State reported.
“I’ve supported and donated to Lauren Boebert. President Trump has supported and donated to Lauren Boebert. Kevin McCarthy has supported and donated to Lauren Boebert. She just barely came through by 500 votes,” Greene noted in a short Twitter thread.

“She gladly takes our $$$ but when she’s been asked: Lauren refuses to endorse President Trump, she refuses to support Kevin McCarthy, and she childishly threw me under the bus for a cheap sound bite,” Greene continued.
“The country is facing extremely difficult times. Americans expect conservative fighters like us to work together to Save America and that is the only mission I’m 100% devoted to, not high school drama and media sound bites. Save America! Defeat the Democrats!” she added.

Boebert’s race became the last one for the House that was decided. A recount completed last week confirmed that she won her re-election bid against Democrat Adam Frisch in Colorado.
In a Twitter thread posted on Friday, Greene laid out her vision for the party and even made a couple of startling revelations.
While reflecting on the party’s less-than-stellar performance during the recent midterm elections, Taylor Greene also noted that several members of her party have steadily and increasingly moved further to the right in response to the highly partisan nature of Democrats during the past four years they were in control of the chamber.
I have a vision of a Republican Party that truly serves the American people and our many great needs.
Our House GOP conference all suffered together so much in the past two years and many House Republicans have changed and moved to the right, but the base doesn’t know yet.

“I have a vision of a Republican Party that truly serves the American people and our many great needs,” she began. “Our House GOP conference all suffered together so much in the past two years and many House Republicans have changed and moved to the right, but the base doesn’t know yet.”
“Here is an example: The Senate Republicans are another story; the 18 Senators that voted for the Democrats $1.7 trillion omnimonster are the Uniparty, 36% of Republican Senators,” Taylor Greene continued. “While only 4% of House Republicans voted for it, 2 of them are traitors (Cheney & Kinzinger).”
“The base will no longer tolerate Uniparty Republicans, which are viewed as America Last, and I have been making that clear inside our conference while the base has been making it loud &clear on the outside,” she wrote. “This must continue in order to keep our conference moving right.”
