Conservative commentator Candace Owns has called on the United States to send troops to Canada to deal with the crackdown on protesters by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“STOP talking about Russia. Send American troops to Canada to deal with the tyrannical reign of Justin Trudeau Castro. He has fundamentally declared himself dictator and is waging war on innocent Canadian protesters and those who have supported them financially,” the author said on Twitter on Saturday.

And she is not the only one concerned. The situation in Canada has even united some politicians in the United States who do not normally agree on anything.

“Are there any civil liberties organizations remaining? Or are they all now in the side of jack-booted thugs?’ Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said on Saturday.

Last week, Minnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar tweeted in response to a post from an editor for the Ottawa Citizen/Sun who had shared a report about Stella Luna Gelato Cafe in Ottawa, Canada, closing their shop after they were threatened for donating to the convoy.

“I fail to see why any journalist felt the need to report on a shop owner making such a insignificant donation rather than to get them harassed. It’s unconscionable and journalists need to do better,” she said.

The original tweeter, editor Allison Mah, has made her tweets protected since Omar chastised her.

The story in the Ottawa Citizen/Sun reported that the GiveSendGo data of donors was hacked and published and the owner of the shop, Tammy Giuliani’s $250 donation has caused the shop to get threats.

“We got a call from the team saying, ‘We’re getting phone calls here,’” she said. “I said, ‘What’s going on?’ and they said, ‘They’re threatening to throw bricks through our window. They’re threatening to come and get us.’ We said, ‘Lock the door and we’ll find out what’s going on.’”

In her post on the donation website she said that she had originally given $100 but since that had been frozen she raised her donation to $250.

“Now I’m giving you $250 and taking food down to the truckers every day. Thank you for continuing to fight for Canadians across this country,” she said.

Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul not only supports the protests in Canada, but said he wants to see the same in the United States.

“I’m all for it,” he said to The Daily Signal on Thursday. “Civil disobedience is a time-honored tradition in our country, from slavery to civil rights, you name it. Peaceful protest, clog things up, make people think about the mandates.

His comments came after a bulletin from the Department of Homeland Security warned that a convoy could be timed to disrupt President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech in March.

“It’d be great, but the thing is, it wouldn’t shut the city down because the government workers haven’t come to work in two years anyway,” the senator said.

“I don’t know if it’ll affect D.C. It’d be a nice change. We’d actually have some traffic,” he said. “I hope they clog up cities.”

Republican Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw , seen as more of an establishment Republican than Sens. Cruz and Paul, tweeted a link for Canadian truckers to get a visa to come to the United States to work.

“Quick note to Canadian truckers being fired and now targeted as ‘terrorists’ by your woke government: The USA has a trucker shortage AND a work visa program,” he said.

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley warned that Trudeau’s crackdown on the trucker protests is a sign of where Democrats in the United States want to go.

“Trudeau’s authoritarianism is a harbinger of where the woke Left wants to take America – they detest free speech and free exchange of ideas and anyone who dares disagree. They are the enemies of the open society. And they are already running the Biden White House,” he said.
