House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi has made a stunning admission on the impeachment of President Donald Trump that should end everything.
After her media show celebration of the signing of the articles of impeachment against the president she admitted that it has nothing to do with having “proof.”
She talked to reporters about the impeachment on Thursday with a focus on witnesses in the Senate, which she does not have a thing to do with but desperately wants to.
“It’s not a question of proof,” she said, answering a reporter’s questions about having witnesses in the Senate trial of the president.
“It says what allegations have been made and that has to be subjected to scrutiny as to how we go forward, but it should not be ignored in the context of other events that could substantiate some of that,” she said.
The translation of that is rather simple. To Democrats it is not about proving anything, it is about getting as many people to testify as possible who will say negative things about the president.
Those soundbites would eventually be used by whoever the Democrat nominee is for president to help them win in 2020.
She also spoke about Lev Parnas, the former associate to Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal attorney, who said he had allegations to make against the president.
And conveniently he could use his testimony to help him in the several indictments he is under from the Southern District of New York.
To many people this would make Parnas not a credible witness. But not to Pelosi who is grasping at any straw she can find, which will be tough as plastic straws are banned in California.
“He’d be a credible witness if what he is testifying to relates to the issue at hand, the president’s behavior. But again, they — there is a process for — for how you go forward with witnesses and that’s not done in the basement of the congressional visitors center but in — you know, among those who are making those decisions about how to go forward,” she said.
She was also asked about Attorney General Bill Barr as he has been accused of being involved in the alleged Ukraine conspiracy.
“What I said that the attorney general was implicated is, I’ve said this testimony implicated the rogue attorney general who has been the puppet of the — well, I don’t know who is the puppet, Trump or the attorney general — but this is not — he says this is my attorney general — this is my Department of Justice. Really?” she said.
“So, in any case, it’s not a question of saying proof, it says what allegations have been made,” she said.
If you can decipher what she is saying in that word jumble, good for you. But it essentially is, we do not care about proof or evidence, we simply want to damage the president in time for the 2020 election.
If Republican senators give in and vote to have witnesses at this sham impeachment every one of them should be primaried.
