Something is seriously wrong with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The California Democrat went off on President Donald Trump during a call Monday, calling his handling of the coronavirus pandemic “almost sinful.”
The Speaker made this statement while talking on the phone with other Democratic House members, Politico reports.
“The more misrepresentations he puts out there, the more it obscures the truth,” she also reportedly said on the call.
“We have to insist upon the truth — what they’re saying is not knowledge, is not facts, is not real,” she added.
Earlier on Monday, both Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer issued a joint statement where they claiming that Republicans are responsible for stalling coronavirus relief measures.
However, just days ago, the two Democrats halted the passage of the coronavirus stimulus relief package.
“We have real problems facing this country, and it’s time for the Republicans to quit the political posturing by proposing bills they know will not pass either chamber and get serious and work with us towards a solution,” Pelosi and Schumer said.
Here’s more from the Daily Wire:
The disagreement stems directly from the PPP add-on bill, which would inject an additional $250 billion into the $350 billion program designed to provide low- and diminishing-interest loans to businesses with less than 500 employees affected by coronavirus-related lockdowns. Even though the program has been in operation just over a week, banks like JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo report that they’re out of funds and have already closed their application windows.
Democrats don’t want a “clean” PPP bill, however, and are demanding a much larger relief package, with $100 billion for hospitals and $150 billion in funding to state and city governments, with an eye to boosting government-sponsored food aid programs.
They also want guarantees that minority- and female-owned businesses can jump to the front of the line for some of the PPP loans, creating a further government hurdle for small businesses looking for help.
Pelosi and Schumer were, at least, finally willing to acknowledge that the PPP is in serious trouble. Just last week, Pelosi told her weekly press conference that there was “no data” to support the idea that the fund was being swiftly depleted.
Pelosi is doing her best not to let the coronavirus pandemic go to waste for Democrats.
During an interview on CNN, Pelosi told anchor Anderson Cooper that she is pushing for federally forced vote by mail in the 2020 election in the next round of coronavirus aid.
This, of course, is not something President Donald Trump and Republicans support, so she’s again pushing for a far-left scheme that will never pass in the GOP-controlled Senate.
Pelosi said the country needs to move toward a “vote by mail” system to give citizens a way to cast their ballots while the coronavirus makes it dangerous to congregate.
Government Accountability Insititute research director Eric Eggers says the Democrats’ plan for nationwide mail-in voting would send ballots to 24 million inaccurate and flawed voter registrations.
Eggers said mail-in voting ensures voters associated with those flawed voter registrations would get the chance to vote in the 2020 presidential election.
Last month, Congress passed a massive $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus compromise package, which will bring relief to individuals, small businesses, and larger corporations.
