White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki ducked and dodged when asked about Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz suggesting that Joe Biden will be impeached if Republicans win back control of Congress in 2022.

Dallas Morning News correspondent Todd Gillman asked during the press briefing: “Does the White House have a reaction to Senator Cruz saying President Biden may be impeached if the Republicans take back the House next year, specifically for the border policies?”

“Well, our reaction is: Maybe Senator Cruz can work with us on getting something done on comprehensive immigration reform and putting in place measures that will help make sure smart security is what we see at the border, taking a more humane approach to the border instead of name-calling, accusation calling, and making predictions of the future,” Psaki replied.

She completely avoided the question and attempted to blame Republicans for the border crisis.

Cruz said in his latest podcast that if his party manages to take control of the House of Representatives during this fall’s midterm elections, President Joe Biden will likely face impeachment in 2023.

The Texas Republican made his prediction during his most recent “Verdict with Ted Cruz” episode, adding that he is “very optimistic about 2022,” going on to say, “I put the odds of the Republicans winning the House at 90/10 and it may even be higher than that.”

He also said that Biden’s impeachment could feasibly take place next year if the Republicans take the lower chamber, noting that “if we take the House, which I said is overwhelmingly likely, then I think we will see serious investigations of the Biden administration.”

And those probes will likely lead to articles of impeachment, Cruz indicated.

Regarding the possibility of impeachment, the Texas senator said that he thinks there’s a chance, noting that “whether it’s justified or not, the Democrats weaponized impeachment” against then-President Donald Trump, who was impeached a record two times and both times for bogus allegations of “wrongdoing.”

“They used it for partisan purposes to go after [former President Donald] Trump because they disagreed with him. One of the real disadvantages of doing that is the more you weaponize it and turn it into a partisan cudgel, you know what’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” Cruz noted.

“I think there will be enormous pressure on a Republican House to begin impeachment proceedings. I think there are potentially multiple grounds to consider for impeachment. Probably the most compelling is the utter lawlessness is President Biden to enforce the border. His decision to just deify immigration laws,” Cruz continued, outright predicting that Republicans will retaliate against Democrats for impeaching Trump.

“That’s probably the strongest grounds right now for impeachment but there may be others,” he noted further.

Cruz is not the first Republican to speak of impeaching Biden.

In late October, Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced articles of impeachment against Biden, alleging that he committed “treason.”

“I have introduced House Res. 57, these are Articles of Impeachment on President Biden,” Greene said. “For abuse of power in regards to his willingness to use his position of power to aid his son Hunter Biden in his business dealings.”

“I have also introduced another Article of Impeachment on President Biden, which is H. Res 597,” she continued. “This has to do with the national security crisis that President Biden has created with regards to the extreme threat at the southern border.”

“I have introduced House Res. 598, Articles of Impeachment on President Biden in regards to the failure in Afghanistan,” Greene went on. “And I have introduced House Res. 596, Articles of Impeachment on President Biden for the Covid eviction moratorium and his willingness to use his position to try to do what he shouldn’t be doing. We have three branches of power.”

“Joe Biden swore an oath, he said ‘I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States and I will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and he is failing to uphold his oath,” Greene added.

“Joe Biden is failing the American people by refusing to uphold the law and the Constitution,” she said. “But Afghanistan is where it really hurt. You see, Article III, Section 3, Joe Biden could be guilty of treason.”

“Our law says that levying war against the U.S., adhering to the enemies of the U.S., and giving aid and comfort is treason,” Greene said.

In mid-December, former top Trump adviser Stephen Miller also laid out the case for when, how, and why Republicans should impeach Biden over his failure to secure the U.S. southwestern border.
