In an economy where employers are begging for employees to come work for them, one may think that a new jobs report would be booming.

But if you thought that you would be mistaken as the August jobs report from the Biden administration would be tough to describe as anything other than a disappointment.

As people continued to collect federal unemployment benefits, that are set to expire, the jobs growth missed experts expectations by around a half a million, The Daily Wire reported.

The economy added 235,000 jobs in August, far below economists’ predictions of 720,000 and a sharp drop in job growth from the previous two months when the economy added 962,000 jobs in June and another 1.1 million in July, according to Department of Labor data released Friday.

The unemployment rate dropped from 5.4% to 5.2%, in line with economists’ expectations. The jobs numbers are the worst posted since Biden took office in January, according to CNBC. While most sectors posted limited gains, growth in the leisure and hospitality sector stalled and remains far below its pre-pandemic employment level.

But wait, Biden had an answer for the dismal jobs report that was as predictable as it was ridiculous.

“While I know some want to see a larger number today and so did I, what we’ve seen this year is a continued growth, month after month in job creation,” he said.

“There’s no question that the Delta variant is why today’s job report isn’t stronger,” he said. “I know people were looking, and I was hoping, for a higher number.”

“August Jobs Report: + 235,000 (economist forecasts: 725,000) That is what one would call a big, big miss. Unemployment rate: 5.2%,” Phil Mattingly, a CNN White House correspondent, said.

“Jobs report is dismal. Reports suggest at least nine million jobs open. Covid changed the way America views work,” Fox News’ Bill Hemmer said.

“Jobs Report Disaster Details are even more disappointing. Black unemployment rate surged to 8.8% from 8.2%. This would be top story/take if Trump were in office but won’t be mentioned anywhere today (Powell will take note). 0 Leisure jobs -3K Construction -28.5K Retail,” Fox Business anchor Charles Payne said.

“It’s my day off and I’m waiting for the Commander in Chief to come out and tell me why the August jobs report was great, almost better than the Afghan retreat. Its time to promote going to work, self reliance, accomplishment – small businesses cannot fill 50% of job openings,” he said.

“The Black unemployment INCREASED to nearly 9% in August! The unemployment rate INCREASED to 9.1% (Black Men) 7.9% (Black Women) 17.9% (Black Youth) The Biden-Harris Economy is not working for Black America. This is another crisis they created,” GOP National Spokesperson Paris Dennard said.

“Another disastrous economic report for the administration… Of course no one will cover it because Joe’s doing a such great job In every other aspect of his presidency so they’ll give him a pass on this. How long do you think this is sustainable for?” Donald Trump Jr. said.

“In August, employment in leisure and hospitality was unchanged, after increasing by an average of 350,000 per month over the prior 6 months. In August, a job gain in arts, entertainment, and recreation (+36,000) was more than offset by a loss in food services and drinking places (-42,000). Employment in leisure and hospitality is down by 1.7 million, or 10.0 percent, since February 2020,” the Department of Labor said.
