A leading House Republican shredded a news reporter during a press conference on Tuesday following an announcement by Speaker Kevin McCarthy that he was authorizing an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
During a Freedom Caucus presser, an incredulous Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) tore into a reporter who asked what evidence House Republicans had to begin the inquiry.
“What actual evidence do you have as opposed to allegations to show to the American public that would merit an actual impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden and prove that today isn’t just about some of you?” a reporter asked off-camera.
“Oh, I don’t know,” interjected Perry as the reporter went on to suggest Republicans were simply “enacting political revenge” after Democrats impeached then-President Donald Trump.
“This isn’t about political revenge. We have the bank accounts we can see, ma’am. You can see that the homes that the Bidens own can’t be afforded on a congressional or Senate salary. You also understand that it’s not normal for family members to receive millions of dollars from overseas interests,” Perry responded, growing increasingly animated and agitated.
“Those things aren’t normal. That’s not normal. Have 20 shell country companies, these things are not normal. And it alludes to not only just widespread corruption, but money laundering, if not influence peddling itself,” he continued.
“And we also have the president, the vice president at the time on record saying that the prosecutor was fired. ‘Well, son of a bitch! The prosecutor was fired!’ Right. Because the prosecutor was going after the company that his son was working on,” Perry said, referencing a story Joe Biden told after leaving the vice presidency at an event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations.
Biden said he had arrived in Kiev, Ukraine, with a pledge to provide the government with $1 billion in assistance but that he would not authorize it until then-President Petro Poroshenko fired the country’s top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, who was currently involved in a corruption investigation into energy giant Burisma, where Biden’s son, Hunter, was currently serving as a board member making tens of thousands of dollars a month.
“That’s what we have. If you can’t see that. If you want, if you are that blind, I’ll turn it over to the attorneys,” Perry said, concluding his portion of the press conference.
“The American people can’t see that, they think it’s political revenge,” the reporter said in response.
Perry fired back: “It’s because you don’t report on it!”
Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) spoke to Newsmax last week and said the same thing — most of the legacy media was failing tor report the House Republicans’ findings.
“That gives us a little time to get the information, to get it out, to get coverage of it so that the American people can actually see the facts,” she said on the show “Newsline.”
She said that House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer has acknowledged that the mainstream media has been derelict in its duty to report on what is happening with the Biden family.
“They’re not showing these things that are happening in plain sight, whether it’s the explosive testimony that came out from the whistleblowers, the FBI informant, which corroborated all that from Sen. [Chuck] Grassley [R-Iowa] to all the information that’s now coming out, matching that up [with Hunter Biden’s] laptop,” she said.
She cited the president’s use of fake names when he was vice president, which is actually common for federal officials, as one reason to believe that “it’s obvious there’s a cover-up.”
“Joe Biden isn’t using pseudonyms for any reason other than to make sure that we have to continue to dive into the web, including the numerous suspicious activity reports and all those different bank accounts from all these different sources and entities to try to confuse everyone,” the representative said.
She said, “There’s a lot for the American people to see.”
