RNC Outraises Dems In April As Biden, Dem Polling Continues to Tank

The Republican National Committee managed to outraise the Democratic National Committee by a substantial figure, perhaps further highlighting the decline in support for President Joe Biden and his party.

“The RNC reported a $14.2 million haul for the month, besting the $12.9 million brought in by the DNC and the Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund, the committee’s joint fundraising arm,” the Washington Examiner reported on Sunday.

“The latest numbers, revealed Saturday, bring the RNC’s total for funds raised this election cycle to $219.9 million. The DNC, meanwhile, has raised $213 million thus far this cycle,” the report continued.

That said, the DNC currently has an advantage in terms of cash on hand, with $65.6 million compared to just $43.7 million for the RNC.

In a statement, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel focused on an emerging enthusiasm gap, with Republicans appearing to be more eager to hit the polls this November and hold Democrats accountable as the party in power.

“The Republican Party is firing on all cylinders to deliver Republican victories across the country,” McDaniel, who has served as RNC chair since 2017, said.

“We have incredible enthusiasm on our side and are out-raising, out-investing, and out-organizing Democrats. Americans are hurting because of Biden’s failed leadership and, come November, will send a referendum to the White House and fire Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer once and for all,” she added.

A spokesperson for the DNC, meanwhile, also hailed the party’s fundraising ability.

“Engagement from President Biden, Vice President Harris, the First Lady and the Second Gentleman has helped fuel the DNC’s fundraising success,” the spokesperson said, according to the Examiner. “Over half of all new donors to the DNC and one-third of the one-time revenue raised from grassroots channels in April came in from email, texts, and mailings signed by White House principals.”

That said, polling is clearly favoring Republicans, as a series of political and issues-oriented surveys since the start of the year have indicated.

In early April — as food, gas, diesel, and housing prices soared but well ahead of the most recent spikes — a Democratic consultant predicted the party would suffer mightily at the polls in November.

“It’s bad,” the anonymous Democratic strategist told The Hill. “You have an energy crisis that’s paralyzing and inflation is at a 40-year high and we’re heading into a recession. The problem is simple. The American people have lost confidence in him.”

“Everyone needs to come to terms with the reality that we’re going to get slaughtered in November,” the strategist reportedly continued. “That’s a fact. His polling has gotten worse, not better. It’s indicative of the fact that people have lost confidence in his leadership. There’s nothing they’re going to be able to do.”

Bill Galston, Chair of the Brookings Institutions governance study program and former domestic policy adviser to former President Bill Clinton, said, “unless and until inflation comes down appreciably, that there’s going to be a ceiling on his job approval that’s a lot lower than the White House wants it to be.”

Gallup senior editor Jeff Jones said, “high gas prices are one of the biggest anchors on presidential approval.”

Just 40 percent of respondents to NBC’s new poll say they approve of the president’s White House tenure, the lowest recorded by the outlet’s surveys so far. It fell three points from January.

What could be concerning for Biden’s re-election chances is a decline in approval among female voters, black voters, and Independents — demographics that were all key to his 2020 victory. 

Biden is also losing the key Hispanic constituency.

Last summer, Hispanic support for President Joe Biden stood at a respectable 55 percent, but that’s not the case today, according to a new survey from Quinnipiac.

Now, Biden’s support among that demographic has fallen to just 26 percent, a devastatingly low figure for a Democrat president, historically speaking.

Biden has been consistently hitting new lows in the polls for nearly a year.

Young Americans and White men also have low approvals for Biden, at 27% and 29% respectively.

The president’s highest approval ratings are among Americans older than 65 and black Americans, at 45% and 63% respectively. Black Americans are the only demographic in which Biden has a positive approval rating, according to the poll.
