She Wants Them FIRED – Pelosi STUNS Her Own Party

Sometimes Democrat Speaker of the House and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi manages to say some things that stun even her most ardent supporters.

That had to be the case on Thursday when Pelosi called for the disbarment of President Donald Trump’s attorneys for the crime of defending their client.

The Speaker was responding to remarks made, mainly by Harvard Law professor and Trump attorney Alan Dershowitz when she made the stunning statements.

“If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment,” he said.

That was followed by two more of the president’s attorneys who said that the articles of impeachment against Trump were not valid.

“The articles of impeachment violate the Constitution,” Jay Sekulow and Pat Cipollone said at the start of the trial. “They are defective in their entirety.”

These comments rankled the feathers of the 79-year-old House Speaker and she used her weekly press conference to attack them.

She praised her House impeachment managers who she said have given Americans a “magnificent example to follow” and have done so “in the face of the President’s team – is there to dismantle the Constitution of the United States.  And some of them are even lawyers.  Imagine that you would say, ever, of any President, no matter who he or she is or whatever party, if the President thinks that his or her Presidency – in this case, his Presidency – is good for the country, then any action is justified, including – including – encouraging a foreign government to have an impact on our elections, which is exactly what our Founders were opposed to and they feared.

“The day we were bringing the articles to the Floor, I quoted ‘The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere’:  ‘On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy‑Five:  Hardly a man is now alive who remembers that famous day and year.’

“And those of you who remember Longfellow’s poem know that in there he says: ‘The English are coming, the English are coming,’ we’ll let you know, ‘one if by land, two if by sea.’  In this case, the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming, and the President has led a clear path for them to interfere once again in our elections, as they are currently doing,” she said.

“I said then, as Longfellow said then: ‘The fate of the Nation was riding that night.’  The fate of our Nation, our democracy, our Constitution, our system of checks and balances, the exquisite beauty of our Constitution, the genius of a system of checks and balances.

“The President seems to be emulating a French king who said, ‘L’etat, c’est moi.’  ‘The state, it’s me.’  No.  Article II does not say you can do whatever you want.  The Constitution does not say that.  But these, but these, I don’t know how they can retain their lawyer status in the comments that they are making,” she said.

The next day the Senate voted against having new witnesses and documents. Not because there is a coverup but because there have already been witnesses whose testimony was played for the Senate.

You do not get an endless parade of witnesses, who witnessed nothing but their own opinions, so you can keep attacking the president for your real goal, 2020.
