Former Fox News star Bill O’Reilly laced into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an interview Friday after the California Democrat refused to allow a measure providing more protection for Supreme Court justices to move forward.
In an interview with The Blaze’s Glenn Beck, O’Reilly, who has a prime-time show on the streaming network The First, said that protection is vitally needed now after a young California man traveled to the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh with the intent of assassinating him.
O’Reilly’s comments came after Pelosi snapped at a reporter who asked why she was delaying the bill, leading her to claim “nobody is in danger over the weekend.”
“They won’t put in what they believe is necessary to protect Supreme Court justices and other government officials,” O’Reilly told TheBlaze founder Glenn Beck of Pelosi and House Democrats.
“And you know, this woman [Pelosi], I’ve said she’s evil, and maybe this is overstating it, but I don’t think so. Watching her for decades, I just think she’s an evil woman,” O’Reilly said.
“A woman who is consumed with power, who has no respect for others with whom she disagrees. No respect. What she did to Trump, how she tried to undermine him, the impeachment fiasco. She doesn’t care about America. It’s all about her power, you know, and it just makes me disgusted,” he added.

On Thursday – just one day after 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske was arrested near Kavanaugh’s home and then charged with attempted murder of a Supreme Court justice – Pelosi was about to leave her weekly press conference when she responded brusquely to a reporter who shouted out to her, “You said the justices are protected, but there was an attempt on Justice Kavanaugh’s life.”
“And he’s protected,” Pelosi retorted. “He’s protected. The justices are protected.”

In reference to the legislation that is currently stalled in the House which would increase security for the families of the Supreme Court justices, Pelosi said, “This issue is not about the justices. It’s about staff and the rest.”
“We’re working together on a bill that the Senate will be able to approve of, because that’s what — we can pass whatever we want here. We want it to be able to pass the Senate. So, I don’t know what you’re talking about, because evidently, you haven’t seen what the debate is — not debate, but language is,” she continued.
“There will be a bill,” Pelosi said, ending the exchange. “But no one is in danger over the weekend because of our not having a bill.”
She was also ripped by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who accused Pelosi of being dishonest because the measure had already “passed unanimously” in the upper chamber.
“House Democrats just BLOCKED a bill to provide more security for Supreme Court justices and their families,” he noted in a tweet containing a video clip of him giving a speech in the House blasting Democrats for holding up the bill.
“This passed unanimously in the Senate, yet Speaker Pelosi refuses to bring it up for a vote—despite today’s foiled plot to kill Justice Kavanaugh. Shameful,” he added.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) told CNN that Democrats want the bill to also include protection for Supreme Court employees as well.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) also reportedly said Wednesday that he is working with the House on a compromise bill that would provide increased security for clerks and other staff at the Supreme Court.
“I’ve actually been engaging with several House members about how we come to a negotiated compromise on that bill and move it forward promptly,” Coons said, noting a debate over “a relatively simple issue of whether or not the scope of it also includes clerks and other staff.”
“I think we can find a compromise in…allowing the discretion of what police or public safety resources are dedicated to be at the discretion of the head of public safety related to the Supreme Court,” Coons said.
