Social Media Explodes After Ilhan Omar’s Son Arrested

Social media erupted this week following reports that Minneapolis police searched a residence reportedly connected to the son of Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar as part of an investigation involving his roommate.

Alpha News reported that officers searched the home of Omar’s son, Adnan Hirsi, and seized firearms and ammunition before arresting his roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi.

The reported connection between the residence and Hirsi has drawn widespread attention online, although authorities have not publicly implicated him in any criminal activity.

Neither Hirsi nor Omar has been accused of wrongdoing in connection with the investigation.

But the reported connection between the suspect and Omar’s son was enough to ignite a wave of reaction from the Democratic congresswoman’s conservative critics on social media.

Although neither Omar nor her son has been accused of wrongdoing, commentators quickly seized on the report that Abdi allegedly shared an apartment with Hirsi, propelling the story across conservative social media.

“Nothing to see here. Move along,” Steve Ferguson, a small business owner with nearly 300,000 followers on X, wrote.

Conservative activist Benny Johnson wrote, “Not a good look for Ilhan Omar.”

Another conservative influencer known as “Spitfire” wrote on the site, “This Omar investigation is getting more interesting by the day.”

“Anyone shocked that a horrible person would be a horrible mother? What do you expect from someone who marries their brother?” Townhall columnist Derek Hunter wrote.

“Ilhan Omar: Supports violent jihad. Ilhan’s daughter: Arrested during pro-Hamas campus riots; traveled to Cuba with a CCP-linked group. Ilhan’s son: Home raided by police; guns and ammunition seized,” Eitan Fischberger, a former staff sergeant in the Israeli Defense Forces and a current opinion columnist, noted.

The report also attracted attention from prominent figures in President Donald Trump’s political orbit, including former Trump advisers Corey Lewandowski and Sean Spicer, who shared it on social media without additional comment.

According to the report, authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday at the residence Abdi reportedly shares with Hirsi, where officers recovered firearms and ammunition.

Abdi had reportedly been arrested earlier that day in connection with a separate encounter with police.

There has been no allegation that Hirsi was involved in any criminal activity, and he has not been accused of wrongdoing in connection with the search.

Fox News Digital independently confirmed that Minneapolis police arrested Abdi on Tuesday and that he was booked into custody shortly after noon.

Jail records show that Abdi remained in custody until shortly before midnight Wednesday, when he was released.

Minneapolis police said officers initially stopped Abdi and cited him for allegedly driving without a valid license or proof of insurance.

Abdi was initially to be released at the scene while officers began the process of impounding the vehicle, according to police.

During that process, officers allegedly discovered a firearm inside the vehicle, an apparent development that preceded the reported search of the apartment later that evening.

Officers later tracked Abdi to an address on Marquette Avenue and arrested him “without incident,” according to the department.

Abdi was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a weapons-related charge and released Wednesday night, according to jail records cited in published reports.

Court records reviewed by the Daily Mail reportedly show that the 22-year-old has accumulated 10 previous convictions, most of them involving misdemeanor offenses.
