The rumors are starting as to who is going to campaign for the Republican nomination for the presidency in 2024 and one name at the top of many minds is Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

He has now responded to those rumors by saying that he would “absolutely” consider campaigning for the presidency again.

The senator was the last person on the Republican side that Donald Trump defeated in the 2016 Republican primary.

He made the comment in a clip preview of an interview with The Truth Gazette.

“Absolutely, in a heartbeat. I ran in 2016…very strong field and I ended up placing 2nd,” he said.

“And, you know, there’s a reason historically that the runner-up is almost always the next nominee. And that’s been true going back to Nixon or Reagan or McCain or Romney,” the senator said.

“You come in with just an enormous base of support. In 2016 we raised over $92 million. That was the most money any Republican has ever raised in the history of presidential primaries,” he said.

The Daily Wire reported.

Cruz has remained popular among many conservatives since 2016, with his name included on several very early polls for 2024.

Early poll leaders have included former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis — though DeSantis has said he is focusing on his 2022 reelection as governor.

As The Daily Wire reported on Tuesday, Cruz led a group of eight GOP senators and 38 Republican House members to file an amicus brief in support of 26 Navy SEALs and other service members seeking religious exemptions from President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The friend of the court letter in the case of U.S. Navy Seals v. Biden argued that both the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) and the First Amendment require the federal government to allow exemptions for the sincerely held religious beliefs of Armed Forces personnel.

And President Joe Biden’s poll numbers provide a fantastic opportunity for Republicans to win back the White House.

A poll in November showed Trump would defeat him in a head-to-head match, The Washington Examiner reported.

Donald Trump boasts a double-digit lead over President Joe Biden in a new poll examining a potential 2024 rematch in Iowa.

The former president also leads Biden, who is facing low approval numbers eight months into his presidency, with support from independents, but Trump faces some warning signs in what could be a fight in Iowa’s first-in-the-nation Republican caucuses.

Trump prevailed in a face-off by 11 points, 51%-40%, among all likely Iowa voters, according to the results of a Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll released on Sunday. The other 9% was split among those who said they would not vote for either candidate or were not sure.

Trump defeated Biden in Iowa by 8 points, 53%-45%, just over a year ago in 2020.

And when it comes to independents Trump holds a commanding over Biden of 8 percentage point lead of 45%-37%.

“The poll was conducted by Selzer & Co., surveying 810 Iowa adults, including 658 likely voters, between Nov. 7 and 10. The survey has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.4 percentage points among all Iowans, and 3.8 points among likely voters,” The Examiner said.

And, in what is more bad news for Biden, a recent poll shows that even Democrats want someone else at the head of the ticket.

An NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist National poll found that only 36% of Democrats want Biden to be on the 2024 presidential ticket.

In contrast, 44% want a different candidate on the ballot, and 20% weren’t sure.

The poll also found that 50% of Republicans agreed that they would have a better chance of winning the presidency if Donald Trump ran for a second term, while 35% preferred a different candidate, and 14% weren’t sure.

The poll also revealed just 44 percent of Americans approved of Biden’s performance as president and 49% disapproved.

To compare, 45% approved and 46% disapproved in the poll conducted in October.

The poll is so serious that it’s gotten the attention of Fox News host Jesse Watters, who spoke in detail about just how bad this is for Biden.

During a segment on “The Five,” Watters and the panel began discussing a new poll that found 44% of Democrats want another person to run in 2024 besides Biden.

“The Democrats – I know, because I know Democrats – they want power. That’s the most important thing. So this poll acknowledges it,” Watters said.

The poll, referenced by Watters, found that 44% of Democrats want someone else to be the Democrat nominee in 2024.
