Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is hitting back after former Speaker of the House John Boehner had some choice, expletive ridden, words for him.

“The Swamp is unhappy,” the Texas senator tweeted along with a clip from an upcoming CBS News interview with the former speaker where he called Cruz a “jerk” and accused him of “making a lot of noise” but not being especially productive in Congress.

“I wear with pride his drunken, bloviated scorn. Please don’t cry,” he said, referencing Boehner’s penchant for crying, Fox News reported.

Boehner said in the CBS interview that he does not like to “beat anyone up” but for Cruz he will make an exception.

“I don’t beat anybody up, it’s not really my style, except that jerk,’ he said.

“Perfect symbol, you know, of getting elected, making a lot of noise, draw a lot of attention to yourself, raise a lot of money, which means you’re gonna go make more noise, raise more money,” the former Speaker said of the Texas senator’s career.

Boehner, an Ohio Republican who served as House speaker from 2011-2015, has been making the interview rounds promoting his book, “On The House: A Washington Memoir,” which comes out next week. Boehner represented Ohio’s 8th Congressional District from 1991-2015.

The ex-speaker has taken several shots at Cruz, including while recording his audiobook when he reportedly told Cruz to “f—” himself in several off-script moments.

Cruz made a joke of it at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida in February, saying, “John Boehner made some news. He suggested that I do something that was anatomically impossible. To which my response was, ‘Who’s John Boehner?'” according to The Hill.

As Boehner was recording the audiobook version of his upcoming book he shouted out “Ted Cruz, go f–k yourself,” to which Cruz told The Daily Caller jokingly that he thought Boehner was drunk.

“Obviously he had too much wine that day already. I think he was probably recording at 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning, so obviously he had too much wine that day already,” he said.

But, he may not have been far from the truth as Boehner shared a photo of himself on Twitter drinking wine as he recorded his audiobook.

“Poured myself a glass of something nice to read my audiobook. You can blame the wine for the expletives,” he said.

“Look, I don’t get it, but this guy is a little unhinged. Here’s the weird thing. In my entire life, I don’t think I’ve spoken 50 words to John Boehner. I don’t know the guy. He was an aloof ‘swamp creature’ when I arrived in the Senate. He was Speaker of the House. He was in bed, figuratively speaking, with every lobbyist in town,” Cruz said to The Caller.

“You know what I think it is? He’s mad at me because, when I arrived in 2012, I began meeting with conservatives both in the Senate and the House and encouraging conservatives to stand up and fight for something — let’s actually honor the promises we made to the voters, let’s deliver on what we did,” he said..

“And I think I encouraged some House conservatives to stand up. Boehner didn’t like that. He’s furious, and to be honest, House conservatives standing up cost him his leadership. At the end of the day, he was tossed out for being a vestige of the corrupt Washington ‘swamp,’” the senator said.

Cruz is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and has been a thorn in the side of the establishment since he arrived in Washington DC.

And Boehner has been an establishment butt kisser from his first day so the two are natural enemies. But if Boehner thinks he has more class than Cruz he better check his own words.
