ABC’s “The View” made headlines on Friday after co-host Sara Haines made a comment that was apparently so inappropriate that her audio was cut.

The segment began when the ladies at the table were discussing the recent announcement that ABC will be expanding the Bachelor universe to include the “golden years.” In The Golden Bachelor, a senior citizen will have the chance to date women with a “lifetime of experience,” they said while describing the show.

Whoopi Goldberg kicked things off by saying, “I’m calling it the ‘Old People’s Bachelor,’” which triggered many of the hosts to also make a slew of inappropriate comments about a senior citizen having the opportunity to date women with “experience.”

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin shared that she thought this was “a good idea,” adding, “A lot of couples on The Bachelor don’t stay together, it’s people in their young 20s, a lot of 23-year-old girls… I think having a 60+ bachelor and bachelorettes will actually be more likely to last in a relationship because you know who you are and what you want.”

Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar kicked things into overdrive by joking about the seniors using “the Fantasy Suite,” which led to Haines making a comment that was apparently so inappropriate that producers cut her audio before it was aired live.

“You guys, these are only 60-year-olds!” she said. “Do you know how young 60 is? I know 60-year-olds, they run marathons. They do –” Haines said before her mic was cut.

The camera cut to Goldberg, who had a shocked expression on her face.

“Oh my god,” Haines said, putting her head down on the table.

The hosts on the show went viral last week when a debate on former President Donald Trump’s town hall on CNN got heated.

Below is a transcript of the exchange:

BEHAR: “So, we were talking before about the town hall meeting with Donald Trump and how he had this very sycophantic audience and that was my one caveat. Because I believe as most people hear, that let him go on, he’s the front runner of the Republican Party, let the American people see what he’s really like. But Sunny disagreed 100 percent with all of that and she still does, I think.”

HOSTIN: “I disagreed yesterday, the day before, and I disagree with all of you right now. You know, I think that you don’t give a bigot and a racist and a misogynist and a liar and a cheater and a sexual abuser and a defamer a platform of 3 million people. And I’m saddened — I used to work for CNN for quite some time. Anderson Cooper has been my friend for over 20 years and I’m sad he tried to gaslight me yesterday by saying that people are in silos. People aren’t living in a silo, they are choosing to listen to the lies or not. 46.9 percent of people voted for Trump in 2020. But he lost the popular vote by over 7 million people. We know who this man is. We learned who this man is and we did not need to see what we saw. I think that town hall will be studied in journalism schools around the country as to what not to do. It was not fact-checked appropriately. I don’t believe —“

BEHAR: “She tried.”

HAINES: “She tried.”

BEHAR: “Let’s give her some credit here.”

HOSTIN: “Tried is not good enough in that type of situation.”

HAINES: “You can’t keep up with nine lies in a sentence.”

HOSTIN: “Can I just not be interrupted for a second?!”

HOSTIN: “She didn’t have the range. He agreed to the interview because he knew he could steamroll her.”

FARAH GRIFFIN: “That’s not fair.”

HAINES: “He would have done it to anyone.”

HOSTIN: “Jack Trapper would have done a better job. And I will tell you, remember, Trump walked out of a 60 Minutes interview with Lesley Stahl because she was fact-checking him in real time every single time! It’s time for some real introspection at CNN. Because I often thought, like Judge Brandeis — the Supreme Court Justice, actually, Brandeis, that sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants. This time —“

HOSTIN: “No, CNN went with Les Moonves. This was a business decision. Les Moonves said this was awful for the country but it was good for CBS. This was awful for the country but congratulations CNN for making a little bit of money on the backs of our democracy.”
