Border Czar Tom Homan has shared the sad reason why he joined President Donald Trump’s administration to help the southern border. Homan told Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow in detail what he thought were the human and social costs of policies that encourage mass immigration.
Homan started working for the U.S. Border Patrol in 1984. Later, he became the first director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to have worked his way up through the ranks of the Department of Homeland Security. During his long career, he has been a strong supporter of stricter immigration control and border enforcement.
Homan worked for six presidents, starting with Ronald Reagan. He was seen as a nonpartisan figure in both Democratic and Republican administrations for a long time.
Since President Trump took office, Homan has been one of the most attacked officials in the administration. Opponents of the administration’s immigration policies have been very vocal in their criticism of him.
When Marlow asked Homan about the threats and attacks he gets every day, Homan said, “I don’t care.”
“I mean, this is the second time I’ve come out of retirement for the president. Homan said, “It’s hard to say no to the president of the United States and help him fix something where thousands of lives have been lost.” “So I knew the hate was coming.” And, sadly, my family has to pay the price. I haven’t lived with my family in months because people have threatened to kill me. But my family knows how important the mission is.
Homan said during a quiet moment in the interview that his critics would understand his dedication to border security better if they had gone through what he has in the last 35 years.
He said that his long career in immigration enforcement has made him even more determined to protect the country’s borders, which he said is a deeply personal and very effective mission.
“If they held the dead children I’ve held, talked to little girls as young as 9 who were raped multiple times by handlers from the cartel, standing on the back of a tractor-trailer when 19 people are at your feet because they baked to death, including a 5-year-old boy…running operation in Arizona where alien smuggling cartels are ripping bodies from each other with drugs, and when someone couldn’t pay their smuggling fees, they’d torture them and call their relatives and let them listen while they torture them and kill them because they couldn’t pay the fees. Homan said, “These are just a few things.”
He said, “You wouldn’t ask that if you wore my shoes for three and a half decades. I’ve seen so much tragedy in my life that it’s who I am today.” “How do you say no to that when they ask you to come back and secure the border? You know it will save lives.”
Homan got upset as he talked about the five-year-old boy and nine-year-old girl he met during his career.
He said that what they went through and how much they hurt him would stay with him forever.
“The two that break my heart are the 19 dead aliens in the back of a tractor-trailer.” “When I got to the back of that tractor-trailer, there were already a lot of bodies on the ground. When the doors finally opened, people rushed out to get air, and some of the dead bodies, which were fighting for a small hole where the break light used to be to breathe, were pushed out,” Homan said.
I saw a little boy in his underwear when I looked back in there. He was five years old and dead. With … his father holding him in his arms on top of him. He said that most of them, if not all of them, were in their underwear to try to cool down in the hot steel box.
