Trey Gowdy: Intel Officials Should Stop Briefing ‘Leaker’ Adam Schiff

The Republican-controlled Senate voted earlier this month to officially acquit President Donald Trump on both articles of impeachment.

The impeachment witch hunt is finally over, but one top Republican is now calling on House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to lose his security clearance for “leaking” to the media.

During an interview Monday night on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, former South Carolina GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy urged top intelligence officials to stop delivering sensitive briefings to Schiff because he is “a leaker.”

“No one is above the law, apparently except whoever leaks classified information out of Adam Schiff’s committee,” Gowdy said in response to a recent intelligence briefing on Russia’s alleged 2020 election interference efforts to help Trump.

Gowdy said one way or another, Schiff will be caught for either doing the leaking himself or allowing members of his committee to do so.

“What the intelligence committee needs to give some thought to is [to] stop briefing someone who has a history and is an epidemic leaker.”

“Quit briefing him,” Gowdy said.

Last week, the New York Times published a report alleging that “intelligence officials” warned congressional lawmakers that “Russia is meddling to re-elect Trump.”

Days later, CNN is reporting that the country’s “top election security official appears to have overstated” the assessment of information that lawmakers pressured them to make.

That report comes just two days after a Jim Acosta-led CNN article stated that “Russia is looking to help Trump win in 2020.”

According to CNN:

The US intelligence community has assessed that Russia is interfering in the 2020 election and has separately assessed that Russia views Trump as a leader they can work with. But the US does not have evidence that Russia’s interference this cycle is aimed at reelecting Trump, the officials said[…]

In other words, there’s absolutely no evidence that Russia is trying to help Trump win re-election. It was totally fake news, and even CNN is admitting it.

Gowdy rounded out his comments by noting how Democrats are still trying to push bogus Trump-Russia collusion theories.

Gowdy told Hannity that ex-Special Counsel Robert Mueller spent more than two years investigating alleged collusion between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia and didn’t find any evidence to support the liberal claim.

Mueller’s entire Russia investigation was nothing more than a two-long scam that failed to give Democrats their chance to remove Trump from office.

The Russia report from the special counsel stated there was no evidence that Trump, his campaign, or any American colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.

Last April, Attorney General William Barr also said he consulted with former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and that they both determined there was no evidence to charge Trump with obstructing justice in the Russia probe.

The president has been completely vindicated after the two-year Russia probe, and several top Republicans think it’s time to turn the tables on those who started the entire witch hunt.
