Former President Donald Trump has seen his previous leads over President Joe Biden significantly erode over the past month after he decided to call it quits and anoint his vice president, Kamala Harris, as the Democratic Party nominee.

Trump was comfortably ahead of Biden in nearly every major poll, all swing states, and had been gaining ground with voters from traditionally Democrat-leaning blocs until Harris became the de facto nominee.

But a new exclusive survey for DailyMail.com shows that the 45th president is still on pace to become the 47th president, leading the vice president by two points. “Our survey of 1001 likely voters found that 43 percent would vote for Trump if the election were tomorrow, compared with 41 percent who would vote for Harris,” the outlet reported, citing the polling results.

The outlet went on to note that the poll’s margin of error is 3.1 percent, setting the November election up to be a “nail-biter.”

“A separate online survey teased out the attributes responsible for Trump’s lead. It found that voters still see him as the stronger, more charismatic candidate, who is more likely to get things done,” DailyMail.com noted, adding that despite Trump’s lead, Harris is doing better than Biden “across the board.”

The Trump campaign’s focus on the fact that Harris had an integral part of the “Biden-Harris administration,” having been given tasks by the president but largely failing to deliver favorable results, such as her role as “border czar.”

In fact, Trump’s campaign issued a response to the White House’s statement that there is no “daylight” between President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, meaning the two share the same policy goals and objectives.

The Trump campaign directed its social media comment to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, adding that her remark proves that “Kamala owns the border crisis,” among other policies that have made it more difficult for Americans to get ahead while the world has become more unstable.

“Thank you @PressSec for confirming: there is ‘no daylight’ between Kamala and Joe! Kamala owns the border crisis. Kamala owns inflation. Kamala owns the wars, chaos, and crime over the past 4 years,” Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt posted to X on Monday afternoon, showing a clip of Jean-Pierre.

The press secretary said on Monday during the White House press briefing that Biden and Harris have been “aligned” throughout the administration and that there’s no “daylight” between them.

“[Harris is] going to lay out her vision. But again, they’ve been aligned, you know, they’ve been aligned for the last three and a half years. There’s not been any daylight,” Jean Pierre said.

The White House spokeswoman was responding to a media inquiry about a possible policy review process between Biden and Harris as the president enters his final months in office and Harris continues to rally support for her presidential campaign in November.

Leavitt added in a comment to Fox News Digital on Monday that “Kamala created this mess” and that she, therefore, “cannot be trusted” to address such issues under a potential Harris administration.

“Today, the Biden White House confirmed what the Kamala Harris refuses to admit: there is NO daylight between Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Kamala owns the illegal immigration crisis that continues to rage on our southern border; and Kamala owns the inflation crisis that has made food, rent, and gas unaffordable. Electing Kamala would be like hiring the thief who robbed your house to put new locks on the door. Kamala created this mess – she cannot be trusted to clean it up,” Leavitt said.
