If you did not think former President Donald Trump was planning to campaign for the presidency again in 2024 the plethora of interviews, he has been doing recently should end that doubt.
And every time he does one of these interviews, he has the ability to drive Democrats, and often the liberal interviewing him, insane.
On Tuesday he appeared on the NPR show “Morning Edition” host Steve Inskeep who pressed the 45th President of the United States on his claims that the 2020 election was rigged, and it did not go the way the host wanted it.
“Nobody believes – do you think Biden got 80 million votes?’ Trump said to the host.
“It’s true,” Inskeep responded.
“I don’t believe it,” the former president said.
“Let me ask you this question. How come Biden couldn’t attract 20 people for a crowd? How come when he went to speak in different locations, nobody came to watch, but all of a sudden, he got 80 million votes? Nobody believes that, Steve. Nobody believes that,” Trump insisted.
“If you’ll forgive me, maybe because the election was about you. If I can just move on to ask, are you telling Republicans in 2022 that they must press your case on the past election in order to get your endorsement? Is that an absolute?” the host responded.
But Trump was not done. He did answer the 2022 question but went back to the 2020 argument.
“They are going to do whatever they want to do – whatever they have to do, they’re going to do. But the ones that are smart – the ones that know, you take a look at, again. You take a look at how Kari Lake is doing, running for governor. She’s very big on this issue. She’s leading by a lot. People have no idea how big this issue is, and they don’t want it to happen again. It shouldn’t be allowed to happen, and they don’t want it to happen again,” he said.
“I want to –” the host said before an agitated Trump interrupted him and continued.
“And the only way it’s not going to happen again is you have to solve the problem of the presidential rigged election of 2020,” he said.
“Mr. President, if I —” the host said before Trump interrupted him again and, this time, hung up the phone on him.
“So Steve, thank you very much. I appreciate it,” he said.
“Woah, woah, woah, I have one more question. I want to ask about a court hearing yesterday on Jan. 6. Judge Amit Mehta. He’s gone. OK,” the stunned host said.
The interview became contentious when the host asked the former president about Republican Senator Mike Rounds’ comments when he appeared on the ABC show “This Week on Sunday and said he believed that while there were “irregularities” the “election was fair.”
“While there were some irregularities, there were none of the irregularities which would have risen to the point where they would have changed the vote outcome in a single state,” the South Dakota senator said.
“The election was fair, as fair as we have seen. We simply did not win the election, as Republicans, for the presidency. And if we simply look back and tell our people don’t vote because there’s cheating going on, then we’re going to put ourselves in a huge disadvantage,” the Senator said.
“Rounds is wrong on that,” the president said. “Totally wrong.”
But he gave a much tougher answer to the senator’s comments in an email from his Save America PAC on Monday.
“’Senator’ Mike Rounds of the Great State of South Dakota just went woke on the Fraudulent Presidential Election of 2020. He made a statement this weekend on ABC Fake News, that despite massive evidence to the contrary, including much of it pouring in from Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and other states, he found the election to be ok—just fine. Is he crazy or just stupid? The numbers are conclusive, and the fraudulent and irregular votes are massive. The only reason he did this is because he got my endorsement and easily won his state in 2020, so now he thinks he has time, and those are the only ones, the weak, who will break away. Even though his election will not be coming up for 5 years, I will never endorse this jerk again,” he said in the email.
“It’s RINOs like this that are allowing the Democrats to destroy our Nation! Our Borders, our Military, our Economy, Inflation, the horrible handling of the China Virus and Afghanistan, and rampant crime throughout our Democrat-run cities are ripping our Country apart. We are a laughingstock throughout the world when we were respected and even feared just 1 year ago. There were no thoughts of Russia with Ukraine, China with Taiwan, Iran with nuclear weapons, or North Korea with nasty statements,” the former president said.
“The Radical Left Democrats and RINOS, like “Senator” Mike Rounds, do not make it easy for our Country to succeed. He is a weak and ineffective leader, and I hereby firmly pledge that he will never receive my Endorsement again!” he said.
