Trump Gets Record-Setting Help From Top Evangelical Group

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign got some very good news from a leading evangelical group this week, which will prove to be a big financial shot in the arm for his campaign.

Faith & Freedom plans to spend a record-setting $62 million on a voter registration and get-out-the-vote effort that includes voter support, boosting turnout, and knocking on doors with a focus on battleground states, Politico reported.

While allocating $10 million more than its 2020 expenditure, the organization intends to distribute 30 million pieces of literature across 125,000 churches.

“In terms of home visits and voters reached at the door, to my knowledge, it’s the largest effort on the right outside of the Republican National Committee ever,” Ralph Reid, who heads the organization, said. He added that when Republicans are outspent by left-wing Democrat-aligned groups, it harms the party’s chances at the ballot box.

“In this business, you’re paid to worry, and we certainly have seen in recent cycles — particularly in the statewide races and especially the Senate races — we’ve seen the spending gap become overwhelming, serious, and debilitating,” Reed said.

Roughly 10,000 individuals will be mobilized, with a primary objective of encouraging 1 million recently registered evangelical voters to cast their ballots and rallying an additional 7.8 million evangelicals categorized as low-propensity voters to participate in the election, Politico reported.

Reed noted that during Trump’s time in office, the 45th president “was so pro-life that it was astonishing. And as a result of that, he’s going to get more running room from the pro-life grassroots than a typical candidate might get or that he would have gotten in ’16. In ’16, I think there was a lack of trust, and now there is total trust,” he added.

In a recent speech to the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, Trump warned of a “radical left, corrupt political class” that opposes Christianity, The New York Times reported.

“Christians, they can’t afford to sit on the sidelines in this fight,” Trump told the group, adding that leftist Democrats oppose Christianity because “they know that our allegiance is not to them. Our allegiance is to our country, and our allegiance is to our Creator.”

“No one will be touching the cross of Christ under the Trump administration. I swear to you,” he also said, per Scripps News Service.

Trump supporters have made it clear they believe he is the only one who can change the direction of the country.

“We’re 100 percent behind Donald Trump and want to see America great again,” Vicky Fukes of Delaware said at the 2024 Conservative Political Action Conference, according to the Western Journal. “One nation under God. That’s the way it’s got to remain.”

Another new survey, meanwhile, shows President Joe Biden falling further behind Trump on the issues voters care most about this election year.

According to the ABC/Ipsos poll conducted between March 8 and 9 of 539 adults, 36 percent of respondents said that they trusted Trump compared to 33 percent who said they trusted Biden, while 30 percent said neither candidate had their trust.

Trump received higher ratings than Biden on all issues except abortion and climate change when respondents were asked about their opinions on the job performance of both presidents, The Post Millennial reported, citing the survey.

Trump garnered a 49 percent favorable rating on the economy, contrasting with Biden’s 37 percent. Regarding inflation, 45 percent approved of Trump, compared to 31 percent for Biden. Regarding crime, Trump was viewed more favorably at 41 percent compared to Biden’s 35 percent. Similarly, on immigration, the former president received a 45 percent favorable rating, while Biden trailed with 29 percent.

A new analysis says that post-State of the Union Address polling doesn’t align with the hyping of Biden’s performance by fellow Democrats and the bulk of the ‘mainstream’ media.

Writing in the Washington Post, Aaron Blake said that “it’s not so clear the American public saw the home run that they did,” adding that instant post-speech polling from CNN and a few other outlets wasn’t as good as it normally could have been.
