In a time of a global pandemic, lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle should be coming together to do what is best for the American people during these difficult times.
But in the D.C. swamp, Democrats are using their power in the House of Representatives to launch another witch hunt into President Donald Trump.
Last week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi set up a committee in the House with subpoena power to investigate how the Trump administration is responding to coronavirus spreading in the U.S.
While the president and his administration are trying to focus on finding solutions, Democrats are busy getting ready to investigate Trump — again.
When asked about the select committee, the president flipped the table and went scorched earth on Democrats.
“I want to remind everyone here in our nation’s capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics, endless partisan investigations. Here we go again. They’ve already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years,” Trump said, according to Fox News.
“It’s witch hunt after witch hunt after witch hunt,” Trump continued. “And in the end, it’s people doing the witch hunt who are losing — and they’ve been losing by a lot. And it’s not any time for witch hunts.”
Trump then really dropped the hammer.
“We have seen Americans unite with incredible selflessness and compassion,” Trump declared. “I want to remind everyone here in our nation’s capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics, endless partisan investigations. Here we go again. They’ve already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years.”
Speaking of the virus, Trump said: “It’s time to get this enemy defeated. Conducting these partisan investigations during a pandemic is a really big waste of vital resources, time, attention. And we want to fight for American lives, not waste time and build up my poll numbers, because that’s all they’re doing, because everyone knows it’s ridiculous.”
This has already been a catastrophic few weeks for Pelosi.
A top Republican is also slamming Pelosi for creating a “redundant” oversight committee.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy took the California Democrat to task for her actions, saying, “Speaker Pelosi’s ambition to create a select committee on the coronavirus crisis isn’t about oversight. She wants to exploit this crisis in order to fundamentally restructure America and advance her political agenda.”
McCarthy said what is “most telling here” is how Pelosi appointed House Majority Whip James Clyburn to be chairman on the panel, pointing to a report that said the South Carolina Democrat told fellow Democrats in a conference call the coronavirus relief bill is a “tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”
McCarthy said Pelosi’s actions have been “pure politics,” adding that creating an oversight committee despite already having three oversight entities created in the recently passed CARES Act is “redundant.”
“This is redundant,” McCarthy argued. “But what’s most telling here is who she appointed. She didn’t go with the Oversight Committee chair, her own, she appointed [James] Clyburn. Remember what Clyburn said — her majority whip — he said this is a time to restructure into their vision — government. This isn’t about oversight. It sounds like pure politics.”

The massive $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus compromise package was finally passed a few weeks ago after Pelosi flew into D.C. and tried slipping in a slew of unnecessary, left-wing proposals.
