Former President Donald Trump ignited a room full of voters on Wednesday after vowing to get America’s economy back on track.

During a Fox News town hall in Georgia that was moderated by Harris Faulkner, Trump spoke to an all-woman audience about policy problems important to female voters. As billed, the town hall will be about women’s issues.

Faulkner said in a press release about the program’s preview, “Women are the largest group of registered and active voters in the United States. It is very important for women voters to know where the presidential candidates stand on the issues that are most important to them.”

The room erupted with applause after Trump was asked about his plans for the economy and he said, “The advantage I have is that I’ve done it. We had the greatest economy in the history of our country when I was in office.”

Trump also promised to end sanctuary towns and bring back “normalcy” as he answered questions from worried women voters about the economy, crime, and abortion before the election.

One woman, whose son goes to the University of Georgia, asked him about crime and public safety after the murder of nursing student Laken Riley earlier this year.

“My son is a Georgia Bulldog. He was on campus the day Laken Riley was murdered,” the attendee told the former president. “Terrifying for all those kids, right? I wanted to know… how quickly in a sanctuary city – like they’re calling Athens, Georgia – how quickly can you remove those threats to our societies that our children can go out on a run as they rightfully should be able to do in a park in the daytime by themselves?”

“We can do things in terms of moving people out. We can move them out of the sanctuary cities. We’re going to end all sanctuary cities in the United States, and we’re going to go back to normalcy,” he pledged in response.

“And we’re going to have law and order,” Trump added.

Crime is always the second most important problem for Republican voters across the country, after the economy, which polls show is the main reason people go to the polls.

New polls show that former President Trump is nine points ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris on how they would handle the economy, which is the most important problem for voters in the 2024 election.

A Gallup poll found that 54% of Americans think Trump is better at managing the business than Harris (45%). The economy was the most important problem for Republicans and for everyone in the U.S., but Democrats didn’t put it in there.

One woman asked him about the rising cost of living for families and his plans for the child tax credit.

“I’m a single mom to two kids here, and just in three and a half years, my child tax credit has decreased by 80%,” one attendee told Trump. “Last year, I had broken my neck, and I tried applying for any kind of assistance and was denied because I did not make less than $700 a month… what kind of realistic changes that do you think you can provide [to] single parents, married parents, any kind of parent to just simply afford children in today’s world, with the way things are here?”

“I gave you the largest tax cuts in the history of our country,” Trump said in response. “Larger than the Reagan cuts. Larger. I understand exactly what you’re saying. We’re going to readjust things so that it’s fair to everybody, because it’s really not fair to everybody… We’re going up higher, but we’re also going to readjust because you have to make some readjustments.”

“It’s unfair to some people, and we’re not going to have that,” he continued.
