The Libertarian Party announced on Wednesday that former President Donald Trump, the likely GOP presidential nominee, will address its members at their national convention in Washington, D.C., later this month.

An announcement from the party said Trump will address the LP convention on May 25 “and directly address concerns voiced by its members.”

Members of the party plan to share a list of their top ten issues with Trump before the convention in hopes of influencing the policy positions of a former and potentially future president, the announcement said.

“For 50 years, we’ve been trying to get our candidates on the main stage with major party POTUS candidates and we’ve finally succeeded in bringing one to our stage. We will do everything in our power to use this incredible opportunity to advance the message of liberty,” said LP Chairwoman Angela McArdle.

Trump added: “Libertarians are some of the most independent and thoughtful thinkers in our Country, and I am honored to join them in Washington, DC, later this month We must all work together to help advance freedom and liberty for every American, and a second Trump Administration will achieve that goal.

“I look forward to speaking at the Libertarian Event, which will be attended by many of my great friends. We all have to remember that our goal is to defeat the Worst President in the History of the United States, BY FAR, Crooked Joe Biden. If Libertarians join me and the Republican Party, where we have many Libertarian views, the election won’t even be close. We cannot have another four years of death, destruction, and incompetence. WE WILL WORK TOGETHER AND WIN!” he added.

The party’s announcement notes that the theme for the 2024 Libertarian National Convention is “Become Ungovernable.” The selection follows years of what are deemed unacceptable authoritarian actions by both the Federal and State governments of the United States, the party said.

The announcement further claimed that citizens have experienced confinement, indoctrination, deception, and forced inoculations against their will. The convention aims to advocate for citizens reclaiming their basic rights and freedoms by becoming ungovernable.

It will feature renowned speakers, activists, and thinkers, and will also determine the Libertarian presidential candidate for the 2024 election cycle. It stands as a gathering of individuals who prioritize freedom, liberty, and independent thinking, said the announcement, adding:

Speakers confirmed thus far for the Convention include: President Donald J. Trump, cardiologist and epidemiologist, Dr. Peter McCullough, filmmaker, and brother of Julian Assange, Gabriel Shipton, “Part of the Problem Host,” Dave Smith, freedom advocate, historian and Bitcoin futurist, Robert Breedlove, and Jo Anne and Mark Skousen, longtime liberty activists, founders of Freedom Fest and the Anthem Libertarian Film Festival. More speakers will be confirmed in the coming months.

Trump has vowed to take extreme actions to secure the U.S.-Mexico border if he wins November’s presidential election. And that promise is supported by a key voting bloc — Latinos.

The most recent Axios-Ipsos Latino Poll shows that the percentage of Latinos who support erecting a border wall and deporting all undocumented immigrants has increased by at least 10 points since 2021.

According to the research, even among those who might have connections to immigration, Trump’s calls for increased border security and possibly his anti-immigrant rhetoric are having an impact.

The results also illuminate Republicans’ recent gains among Latinos and reflect the frustration that has elevated illegal immigration to the top issue for many Americans during election season.

If Trump wins back the presidency, he has vowed to increase border security and organize mass deportations, which he claims could include a million people.
