Twitch, Owned By Amazon, Temporarily Suspends Trump’s Account For ‘Hateful Conduct’

Months before November’s crucial presidential election, one of President Donald Trump’s social media accounts has been “temporarily suspended” for “hateful conduct.”

According to Mediaite, the account suspended was on an online video platform called “Twitch,” which is owned by Amazon.

Twitch released a statement saying Trump’s account was suspended for a speech he made in 2015, which was nearly 5 years ago.

According to a spokesperson with Twitch, the company chose to suspend Trump over what they claim was a “hateful” speech he made in 2015.

A Twitch spokesperson told Mediaite of the Trump suspension. saying:

“In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed. Hateful conduct is a zero-tolerance violation. We will take action on all accounts associated with such conduct with a range of enforcement actions, including and up to indefinite suspension.”

The company pointed to two examples of offending statements from recent and older rallies:

  • 2016 campaign rally, recently rebroadcast on Twitch: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.”
  • Tulsa Rally:  “Hey, it’s 1:00 o’clock in the morning and a very tough, I’ve used the word on occasion, hombre, a very tough hombre is breaking into the window of a young woman whose husband is away as a traveling salesman or whatever he may do. And you call 911 and they say, “I’m sorry, this number’s no longer working.” By the way, you have many cases like that, many, many, many. Whether it’s a young woman, an old woman, a young man, or an old man and you’re sleeping.”

As many have pointed out, there is a big problem when massive multi-billion dollar companies have the power to shut down the president of the United States over speech they do not like.

In recent months, Twitter has flagged several of the President’s tweets for being “misleading” and Facebook has banned several ads from the Trump campaign.

Some might even go as far as calling this election interference and nothing more than Big Tech trying to tip the scales for Joe Biden.

You don’t see these companies turning off accounts of Barack Obama or other Democrats.

This certainly seems like a blatant attempt to silence Republicans before arguably the biggest election in ever happen in modern American history.
