Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene got some good news in the form of a new survey regarding her push to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas after he has failed for years to staunch the flow of illegal immigration into the country, as well as illicit fentanyl.
“By a margin of 55%-33%, likely voters want the Homeland Security secretary out. The margin is even wider for those who feel he’s bad at his job of protecting the border and stopping illegal crossers, deadly drugs, and child traffickers, 64%-29%,” the Washington Examiner reported on Wednesday, citing a new Rasmussen Reports poll.
In remarks to the outlet, the Georgia Republican said the results prove that not only do voters support her push to impeach Mayorkas, but they also want the GOP-controlled House to stop slow-walking the proceedings.
“Republicans were elected to a House majority because the American people are sick and tired of no one in Washington being held accountable for destroying our country,” she said.
In the X platform earlier this week, she wrote: “Let me get this straight. The Republican majority controlled Congress has ousted a Republican Speaker and is now on the verge of expelling a not yet convicted Republican member, but we can’t even impeach Mayorkas or Biden or stop the weaponized DOJ against Trump and all their political enemies?”

“Fifty-five percent of Americans support impeaching Mayorkas, but our GOP conference refuses to do a damn thing. Their excuse? It needs to go through ‘proper procedure.’ But four of the eight who voted against my impeachment resolution sit on the Judiciary Committee, where the articles sit on the shelf collecting dust,” Greene told the Examiner.
“The American people want us to do the job we were sent to do. Impeaching Mayorkas isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s a popular thing to do! If voters can’t trust us to protect our country by punishing those who allow our border to be invaded, then how can we expect to win in 2024? The GOP-led House must impeach Mayorkas immediately, and that’s why I’ll be reintroducing my privileged resolution to do just that,” she continued.
It should be noted that even a plurality of Democrats polled by Rasmussen want Mayorkas out. According to the survey, Democrats split 43%-43% on the question of impeaching him, which is hardly a ringing endorsement of President Joe Biden’s immigration and border policies.
“When asked their opinion of how Mayorkas has protected the border, 45% of Democrats approved, but 46% didn’t,” the Examiner’s “Washington Secrets” column reported, adding:
The border is not just an albatross for the administration. It is becoming a key reelection matter for Biden, who has rarely visited the border or addressed the crisis.
New statistics show that more illegal immigrants have crossed than at any time in history, and even liberal mayors of “sanctuary cities” are pleading for help and kicking illegal immigrants out of town.
In April, “Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) introduced a no-confidence resolution against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on Thursday, marking the first effort in the Senate to mirror impeachment efforts in the House,” the Washington Examiner reported at the time.
Marshall had been a vocal opponent of Mayorkas’s management of the immigration crisis at the US-Mexico border. During a recent back-and-forth with Mayorkas, Marshall asserted that he would be “derelict” in his duties as a senator if he failed to take action to address the crisis.
And in May, Rep. Lauren Boebert took to social media to demand that Mayorkas face impeachment in the GOP-controlled House for failing to secure the southern border amid record human and drug smuggling.
“Anyone who sees the situation at our Southern Border and thinks it’s okay is clearly not thinking straight. Mayorkas deserves impeachment and he deserves it fast,” she tweeted.
