The head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) resigned months ago after warning of a “hostile takeover” by the Democrats. Now, she’s taking action on her own to combat the policies of Democrats.

Jelena McWilliams, who was the chairperson of the agency and appointed by former President Donald Trump, sounded the alarm about how Senate Democrats were going around her to suit their own agenda.

“When I immigrated to this country 30 years ago, I did so with a firm belief in the American system of government.  During my tenure at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the United States Senate, and the FDIC, I have developed a deep appreciation for these venerable institutions and their traditions.  It has been a tremendous honor to serve this nation, and I did not take a single day for granted.  Throughout my public service, I have been constantly reminded how blessed we are to live in the United States of America,” she said.

“Serving the American people alongside the dedicated career professionals of the FDIC has been the highlight of my professional life.  Throughout my tenure, the agency has focused on its fundamental mission to maintain and instill confidence in our banking system while at the same time promoting innovation, strengthening financial inclusion, improving transparency, and supporting community banks and minority depository institutions, including through the creation of the Mission Driven Bank Fund.  Today, banks continue to maintain robust capital and liquidity levels to support lending and protect against potential losses,” the chair said.

“The unexpected shock of COVID-19 tested the resilience of our financial system beginning in March 2020, and the FDIC took swift actions to maintain stability and provide flexibility for banks and consumers.  The core of our financial system not only weathered the storm but was a tangible source of strength for the American economy. The committed staff of the FDIC deserves great credit for these results, and they have my profound gratitude. I am humbled by their dedication to the FDIC’s mission and honored to have served with them,” she said.

McWilliams has since joined Cravath’s Corporate Department and her role will be to fight back against the exact “hostile takeovers” in Congress that she left the FDIC over.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had a meltdown earlier this month afterFox News host Tucker Carlson shared new footage of the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, riots.

Schumer demanded Fox News “order” Carlson to stop after he was given exclusive access to roughly 41,000 hours of surveillance footage by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

“Last night, millions of Americans tuned into one of the most shameful hours we have ever seen on cable television. With contempt for the facts, disregard for the risks, and knowing full well he was lying, lying to his audience, Fox News host Tucker Carlson ran a lengthy segment last night, arguing the January 6 Capital attack was not a violent insurrection,” Schumer began.

“By diving deep into the waters of conspiracy, and cherry-picking from thousands of hours of security footage. Mr. Carlson told the bold-faced lie that the Capitol attack, which we all saw with our own eyes, was somehow not an attack at all. He tried to argue it was nothing more than a peaceful sightseeing tour. Can you imagine, a nonviolent demonstration, a perfectly fine and appropriate instance of people expressing their opinion? I, so many others who were here in the Capitol, and millions and millions of Americans are just furious. With Tucker Carlson and Kevin McCarthy today,” he continued.

“Many of my staff were here at the Capitol on January 6, their lives were put in danger, as were the lives of many of my colleagues, as well as police, maintenance staff, reporters, countless others. At one point, I was within 30 feet of the rioters. One of them I was told shout out let’s get him, before my detail pulled me away, and we ran in the other direction. To say January 6 was not violent is a lie, a lie pure and simple,” he added.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a primetime cable news anchor manipulate his viewers the way Mr. Carlson did last night. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an anchor treat the American people and American democracy with such disdain. And he’s going to come back tonight with another segment. Fox News should tell him not to. Fox News, Rupert Murdoch, tell Carlson not to run a second segment of lies. You know, it’s a lie, you’ve admitted it’s a lie,” Schumer said.

“I condemn Mr. Carlson for siding with the enemies of democracy. I strongly condemn Speaker McCarthy’s actions and fiercely oppose his decision to share this footage with Carlson. I urge Fox News to order Carlson to cease propagating the big lie on his network and to level with their viewers about the truth, the truth behind the efforts to mislead the public. Conduct like theirs is just asking for another January 6th to happen,” he concluded.
