Wayne Allyn Root: Trump May Be Eying Possible House Role In 2022

Conservative radio host Wayne Allyn Root is suggesting that Donald Trump could jump back into the political fray much sooner than expected.

During a segment on his program, Root speculated that Trump could run in the 2022 midterm elections and become the Speaker if Republicans retake control of the U.S. House — which they are expected to do.

“Why not, instead of waiting for 2024, and I’m hoping you’ll run in 2024, but why not run in 2022 for the United States Congress? A House seat in Florida. Win big. Lead us to a dramatic landslide victory. Take the House by 50 seats,” Root said.

“Then you become the speaker of the House, lead the impeachment of Biden, and start criminal investigations against Biden,” he added. “You’ll wipe him out for these last two years.”

This idea is gaining traction, but there’s no indication that Trump is actually interested in this.

Last month, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz pushed the idea of Trump becoming Speaker if Republicans take back control of the U.S. House in November’s midterms.

During a Trump rally in Georgia, Gaetz told a screaming crowd that he wants to “fire Nancy Pelosi” and nominate Trump as the House Speaker.

“There is no greater country than America! There is no greater president than Donald J. Trump! And if you don’t mind me saying so, there is not a better member of Congress than Marjorie Taylor Greene,” Gaetz said.

“Give us the ability to fire Nancy Pelosi, take back the majority, impeach Joe Biden, and I’m going to nominate Donald Trump for Speaker of the United States House of Representatives,” Gaetz said as the crowd yelled its resounding approval.

It’s not just Gaetz who supports this idea, either.

Former Democratic Georgia state lawmaker Vernon Jones, who is currently running for a U.S. House seat as a Republican, revealed in a Twitter post what he plans to do if he is elected.

“On Day One in Congress, I’ll file Articles of Impeachment against both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for the betrayal of public trust,” he wrote, adding this shocker: “Then I’ll cast my vote for President Trump to be Speaker and invite my colleagues to join me.

“It’s time to throw out the old playbook,” Jones, a staunch ally of the former president, said without further elaboration.

In November, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows put forth the idea and suggested that “people would go crazy” if the 45th president took the Speaker’s gavel (according to the Constitution, the House Speaker does not have to be an elected member of Congress).

Appearing on Steve Bannon’s podcast The War Room, Meadows suggested that if Republicans win control of the House in the 2022 midterm elections, they should install Trump as Speaker.

“I would love to see the gavel go from Nancy Pelosi to Donald Trump, talk about melting down, people would go crazy,” Meadows said.

And before Meadows made the suggestion, Bannon did — several months earlier.

While speaking to a group of Boston Republicans, Bannon said Trump will come roaring back to solidify his place as the leader of the Republican Party.

“Going forward, we can transform the Republican Party into more of a MAGA movement … just immerse the (Make America Great Again) movement with the Republican Party, and we’re going to have massive victories in the future,” Bannon said.

During his talk to the West Roxbury Ward 20 Republican Committee, the former chief White House strategist even floated the idea of Trump becoming a member of the Congress, becoming Speaker of the House in 2022, and then impeaching Biden.

“Trump is a disruptor, but he has a long-term vision because I absolutely believe in the marrow of my bones that he will be our nominee in 2024,” Bannon noted during his speech. “He’ll come back to us. We’ll have a sweeping victory in 2022, and he’ll lead us in 2024.”

“We totally get rid of Nancy Pelosi, and the first act of President Trump as speaker will be to impeach Joe Biden for his illegitimate activities of stealing the presidency,” Bannon added.
