Politico Accidentally Publishes, Then Edits Article Revealing Who Biden Picked As His VP

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign has been narrowing down the list of possible candidates to serve as his running mate.

While it’s anyone’s guess who Biden will pick, Politico accidentally published an article on Tuesday declaring that Biden has chosen California Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris to be his running mate.

Politico quickly scrubbed the article after it was published, but it’s certainly plausible that insiders tipped-off Politico and gave them a heads up on Biden’s VP pick.

Biden is supposed to be announcing his running mate next week, so it would make sense if his team told Politico a week early so they could prepare stories for the announcement.

Below is a screenshot of the original Politico story and then the scrubbed version.

“Politico published an article claiming Joe Biden picked Kamala Harris as his running mate, and announced it August 1. It’s since been changed, and scrubbed from the piece. Original on the left. Current version on the right,” The Daily Caller’s David Hookstead tweeted.

Biden declared earlier this year that his VP will be a woman.

After vowing to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court, Biden said during a Democratic debate: “Secondly, if I’m elected president, my Cabinet, my administration will look like the country, and I commit that I will, in fact, appoint a woman to be vice president. There are a number of women qualified to be president tomorrow. I would pick a woman to be my vice president.”

It seems like Harris may be the frontrunner given Biden has mentioned her name several times in recent months.

Biden previously said during an online campaign event that he’s coming for Harris.

Biden said: “I’m so lucky to have you be a part of this partnership going forward. Working together, we can make a great deal of progress. … I’m coming for you, kid.”

Things have gotten so weird that Biden previously said he’d select former First Lady Michelle Obama to be his running mate, though he admitted he doubts she wants to jump back into politics anytime soon.

“I’d take her in a heartbeat,” Biden said when asked if he would add Obama to the ticket. “She’s brilliant. She knows the way around. She is a really fine woman. The Obamas are great friends.”

However, he said he doubts she wants the job.

“I don’t think she has any desire to live near the White House again,” Biden said.

President Donald Trump has also jokingly told Biden who he should choose as his VP.
