With each new polling, President Joe Biden appears to be losing ground with the American people, as the pandemic endures, inflation continues to rise, and his Democratic Party doubles down on what appear to be unpopular legislative priorities.
Case in point: According to a newly released CIVIQS rolling job approval average, Biden is down just 35 percent, as noted by Breitbart News.
In addition, the survey found that Biden’s disapproval rose to a record high of 56 percent, with 9 percent saying they had no opinion one way or the other (which, in and of itself, is telling).
“This comes as Biden has been in office just less than a year and has dealt with a host of problems so far: a supply chain crisis, record-high inflation, and botched Afghanistan withdrawal,” Breitbart noted.
Interestingly, the age group that gave Biden the lowest job approval rating was the 18-34-year-old demographic, typically viewed as being more liberal. But that group gave him a 27-58 percent approval/disapproval ranking.
He got the highest marks from the 65-plus age group, with 41 percent approving and 54 percent disapproving (still not terrific).
Also, Biden isn’t doing well with men or women, though he scored lower with men, with 31 percent approval and 62 percent disapproval. Women, meanwhile, gave him 39 percent approval and a 50 percent disapproval.
Breitbart noted further:
Broken down by race, white respondents showed 28 percent approval and 64 percent disapproval. However, Biden was roughly the opposite among black respondents, who indicated 63 percent approval and 20 percent disapproval.
Biden’s job performance is underwater in 46 states, including California — which is considered a solidly blue state in the presidential elections and overwhelming voted for Biden in 2020 — and tied in Maryland 44 percent approval to 44 percent disapproval.
Also, the survey found that a majority of respondents in just three blue states approve: Massachusetts (48 – 39 percent), Hawaii (49 – 42 percent), and Vermont (49-39 percent).
Biden’s polling, as well as that of his vice president, Kamala Harris, has been tanking for months.
In December, I&I/TIPP poll found that just barely one-third of Democrat respondents want Biden to run for reelection.
The survey asked respondents, “Who do you want to see run for president on the Democratic ticket in 2024?”
Breitbart News added then: Overall, 22 percent said Biden, followed by 12 percent who said Vice President Kamala Harris, four percent who said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and three percent who said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA), and Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. The remaining potential candidates garnered two percent support or less. Thirty-one percent, overall, say they are unsure.
The numbers get worse when it comes to Dem-leaning Independents.
“But only 8% of independents and other non-major party voters also want Biden back as Democratic standard-bearer,” TIPP noted.
“And 10% want Harris, not Biden. For Biden, that suggests near non-existent support among independents, the swing voters who make up a third or more of all those who go to the polls each election,” the survey added.
“Even Democrats seem less than enthused about Biden holding the top spot. Just 37% want him there,” the poll revealed.
“And only 16% give Harris the nod as presidential standard-bearer, alarming given that Vice President Harris is next in line to be president should Biden not complete his term in office,” the survey continued.
TIPP concluded:
With no one else getting even more than low single-digit support, the 2024 presidential election is shaping up to be a wild one for the Democrats – at least at this early point in the game. Much will depend, of course, on the perceived success of Biden’s policies over the next two years.
In early November, USA Today reported on another stunning survey: “A year before the 2022 midterm elections, Republicans hold a clear lead on the congressional ballot as President Joe Biden’s approval rating sinks to a new low of 38%,” the paper reported, adding that Harris’ approval rating is worse: Just 28%.
