Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes, who previously served as a Republican lawmaker, is providing a big update on Donald Trump’s social media platform.

During an interview on Fox News, Nunes spoke to host Maria Bartiromo about cracking down on the tyranny of Big Tech by restoring free speech with Truth Social.

“At Truth Social, we cannot use any of the ‘tech giants’ because we don’t want to be in a position to be shut down,” Nunes said. “So now as we move forward, you know, we launched on the Apple App Store first. We just [launched] this week: TruthSocial.com, anyone can sign up on any device and get an account.”

Bartiromo asked Nunes his thoughts on a Republican-led bill being floated right now that would break up Google’s monopoly on online advertising.

The “Competition and Transparency in Digital Advertising Act” would level the playing field for companies making more than $20 billion in digital ad revenue, busting Google’s stronghold over Alphabet Inc.

The Competition and Transparency in Digital Advertising Act would “restore and protect competition in digital advertising by eliminating conflicts of interest that have allowed the leading platforms in the market to manipulate ad auctions and impose monopoly rents on a broad swath of the American economy,” a news release from Utah Republican Mike Lee’s office noted.

Nunes commented on the bill, “I think what I really see is a lack of willingness by DOJ to actually bring these anti-trust cases against these companies.”

He noted that at Truth Social, “we don’t want to be beholden to Google” to generate ad revenue.

Earlier this year, Nunes said people are flocking to join Truth Social and promised that the company is working as fast as possible to get everyone on board.

“People are coming in droves. They continue to sign up. We continue to let them on as quickly as we possibly can,” Nunes said.

Nunes also said that users coming from Facebook and Twitter are seeing higher rates of engagement “compared to these big tech tyrants.”

“I was getting about the same action with 850,000 Twitter followers as I was in truth, and I was really impressed by the engagement, the smart context,” Solomon said.

Nunes said called the level of enthusiasm and the rate of sign-ups “amazing.” He also said that Truth Social is much different than other social media sites, noting that users “like the vibe on our platform.”

“Not only do we have real users that are real people, but we also don’t have what you see on the other platforms – and that is bots running around everywhere,” he said.

Also, Nunes noted that the objective behind Truth Social is to be much more than just another politically-influenced social media platform and that users are encouraged to post photos, life updates and events, and other non-political content.

“Our team is working around the clock, they continue to work around the clock, we continue to let more and more people on every single hour,” he said.

“You’re not going to want to go back to those old social media companies,” Nunes added, noting that people should go to the Apple App Store and download the platform.

“Our team is working literally around the clock 24/7,” Nunes said. “And as we grow and as we add people, we squash bugs, we’re making changes right. Matter of fact, we should have another in the next day or two another Apple update.

“Also we’re doing—it’s not perfect—but we’re doing everything we can to keep the platform clean, and to keep off all the nasty bots and the people that aren’t really real people,” Nunes added.
