A young man who identifies as a Democrat said he is bailing on President Joe Biden next year and is leaning toward voting for former President Donald Trump, citing the current commander-in-chief’s strategic failings, such as the Afghanistan debacle.
“I’ve seen no form of accountability in this administration. I think this is what’s going to change my vote from formerly Joe Biden to Donald Trump,” 21-year-old Jahmiel Jackson told Fox & Friends.
“I have seen the pullout of Afghanistan from Joe Biden. And then I watched him check his watch during the funeral of the servicemen. And I think if we were to go to war, I’m prime age be drafted. And I don’t want him to check his watch while they’re burying me. I don’t believe that he’s a competent commander-in-chief. And then he’d probably blame my death on climate change in the same way he blamed the pullout in Afghanistan on Donald Trump,” Jackson added.
Stacey Fox, a GOP voter, agreed with Jackson, going on to argue that voters ought to be laser-focused on electing a president who is capable of making tough decisions.
“Who’s going to have enough tenacity to make a decision and stick to it?” Fox asked. “Joe Biden can’t do that. I think Donald Trump, put him with a really strong vice president, will make those decisions, will pull our country out of the dumps that we’re moving into. And I’m really afraid for it if it doesn’t change.”
A Fox News poll released around the same time found that 61 percent of respondents don’t believe that Biden has the mental capacity for the job, a viewpoint that has steadily risen over the nearly three years he’s been in office. It’s up five points from last year, 13 points since 2021, and 16 points since 2020, the network reported.
“I prefer someone who gets the job done,” Campus Reform correspondent Kristen Jackson told “Fox & Friends First” earlier. “I think we get into the identity politics of younger versus older race and all of that, and I don’t think that matters. I think if you’re competent enough to do the job and do it well and do it honestly, I strongly consider voting for you as a candidate to be the President of the United States.”

Campus Reform correspondent Marya Ruth Dunning noted as well: “I think that the way to get young voters is definitely not to tell us that we’re stupid. And especially with Biden being unable to string a sentence together and Kamala barely being able to herself, it’s just an insult.”
Jackson, who described himself a “conservative Democrat,” said he thinks that the party is actually in the process, behind the scenes, of picking someone else to run next year.
“It’s only a matter of time before they [the media] start endorsing someone else,” he said of concerns surrounding the president’s mental decline. “I think they’re just giving him this off-ramp and telling him, ‘Just say it’s your age and walk off into the sunset.'”
Dr. Carole Lieberman, who has made appearances on Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phil, Fox News, and CNN, told the Real America’s Voice streaming network last week that voters should not simply focus on Biden’s age — he’s 80, and he would be 82 on Inauguration Day if he wins again next year.
She said that there is “talk about Biden being too old to run, which isn’t really the case.”
“It’s not about his being too old,” she said, according to The Western Journal. “There are people a lot older who have their marbles and are very intelligent and know history and are able to know how to put this country in a good direction.
“So it’s not age. … It’s about his competency,” Lieberman continued. “If he took the test that I was offering him — this mini-mental status test, or some other kind of test of competency — there’s no way he would pass.”
She went on to speculate that he couldn’t even answer this question: “Who is the president of the United States?”
